Saw it
Liked it
Glad I only paid $4.59 to see it
I thought they tried to hard to bring in the old school characters. With maybe 1 or 2 too many plotlines.
Loved Rogue One

OK My bitches and gripes.
Snoke could have been a better story. If He was reading Kylos mind this whole time how come he didn't see the saber coming? They LITERALLY just explained that he WAS/IS reading his mind this whole time yet he dies...
Leias moon walk? Groundbreaking story line.
Furbies on Jedi Island are like ewoks and Jar-jar...
Bombs dropping in space...
The casino scene...
Kylo failing at everything he does...
Rey having amazing abilities with zero training...
Phasma could have been a cool segway of a story and instead a janitor whoops her ass...
I thought i was watching Spaceballs for the first five minutes with the prank call to the Star Destroyer... It was funny though.
The whole movie was a filler for what is hopefully coming next but still could have been made better.0 -

The story needs to move forward, it can't just stay the same forever.
Rogue One was a dead end nostalgia trip.
The Last Jedi was the first to break new ground since the originals.
Not liking it is fine, nobody is obligated to agree with the direction of the narrative, but calling it bad filmmaking is ridiculous.
That's huge.
The Sith/Jedi opposition is done. The supreme coldy evil character has been replaced (at least for now) with a hotly conflicted upstart.
That's huge.
The Kylo-Rey connection and relationship is unlike anything we've seen, and the new mental Force powers are practically limitless.
The good guys are on the ropes far worse than they have ever been.
One of the staple characters of the story, the wild nd wreckless cowboy, was finally put in check and learned about humility.
Anakin, gone. Luke, gone. Leia, soon gone. Ben Solo? His name's Ben Solo, not Ben Skywalker lol0 -

The Kylo/Rey thing is cool, I agree. It was snokes power that allowed it. He’s dead.
Good guys are always on the run, nothing new here.
no chance it’s the last we see or hear of the cowboy.0 -

I agree with most of this. It just seemed like the movie went nowhere. Typically, 2nd movies of trilogies culminate to a point just before the climax of 3 movies. This movie doesn't do that, which IMO 'breaks' the trilogy. Its a slow speed chase that ends and a handful of the 'good guys' escape. People say it goes in all sorts of new directions, but I don't see it. There really wasn't any progression other than Kylo's 'sucker punch' on snoke that leaves him in charge. I thought that most surviving characters are extremely one-dimensional and I don't care much about them. This movie made me sick of/indifferent towards Finn, his companion mechanic broad, Poe, Kylo, and Rae. After Episode VII, they had me at the ready. Really liked the new cast and was ready to go on the ride with them.
The New Order was also established as very bad in VII with their early execution of an entire village. This movie doesn't really even put the new order in that negative of a light other than they have a las vegas type planet with something resembling horse wagering. In this movie, you don't really feel any urgency or necessity of this band of rebels toppling the New Order. you ask yourself 'why'? This gets magnified once Snoke is gone and a conflicted bad guy and a fleet commander who is used for slapstick comic relief are in charge.
I did like the aliens in the movie.
I also cant believe they planned on depending on Carrie Fisher to play such a major role in VIII and IX. She makes any scene uncomfortable.0 -
Yeah, how in the fuck do bombs drop in zero G??
Swing and a miss there lol
I see a bunch of legitimate criticism and issues with the film and narrative, but I don't see a list longer or more grievous than any other Star Wars movie, and that's where it gets weird.
It's also interesting that this reaction is supposedly very similar to the reaction to epV, which is now largely regarded as the best of the series.
I am 100% certain that none of the originals could withstand the level of expectation and scrutiny that the prequels and these 2 are subjected to.
I wouldn't mind if they stretch this out to a 4 movie installment.Monkey Driven, Call this Living?0 -

This is a point I tried to make a lot. Episodes IV - VI were incredibly campy, and they got away with stuff that wouldnt fly in present day. Yeah, Jar Jar was a bit insufferable, but C3p0's constant bitching and complaining has always made me want to slap him silly.0 -
Yeah, those arguing for Snoke's backstory must not remember that the Emperor had no backstory in episodes IV through VI. We didn't learn how he came to be until episodes I through III.

For this Last Jedi though I am not the masses. The story was all over the place and most of it could be written out.
Finn's character can be written off now too. I forgot to add that in.MayDay10 said:rgambs said:

Clone Wars was good except a few scenes that could be deleted too.
Sith was only good to see how Vader was born and Yoda to backflips.
Lastly Awakens felt like a Star Wars movie where Last Jedi started to but then failed to do so.0 -

If you feel that way and still didn't like TLJ, then I don't feel that same need to defend it.

Something else that chaps my ass...
Where the hell was Yoda during the rest of this? He shows up at the end to chat with Luke? C'mon...
Where are the prophecies?
The whole movie story line is based on The Force and Prophecies. Where are all the Oracles at?0 -
