Some of those "fans" who only like "Alive" and "Jeremy"...
Otherwise, I think teeh crowd was good. A bit excited of course, but it is normal, when you think we have been waiting so long......
Maybe I was standing right before you:) I know who you were writing about...these crazy motherfuckers just seemed to fuck up at least 20 fans' moment of their lives...they were always carried away and returned back till my neighbours gave one of them two hard punches onto their legs!!! Believe me, they deserved that...and they did not appear again:)Julien wrote:Best show of my life...

He-he...Stone is actually staring and smiling at us believe me!!! He had his poker face through the entire show with the only exceptions he was brave enough to look at us:)...he must have had deja vu 'cos I was standing in the same position in Arnhem in front of him with a great Hungarian flag...we were metacommunicating (ergo provocating him) with him on both shows...and he was laughing like a child many times when he had a glimpse at us...he rewarded me with a pick at the end of the show 'cos we were begging so hard:) (and some others who were violent enough to catch it although he wanted to give it me and my girlfriend:))!!!Budapest.Budapest.Arnhem.Antwerpen.Vienna.Madrid.Katowice.Nova_rock.Nijmegen.Rotterdam.Berlin.Dublin.Belfast.London.Venice.Prague.Stockholm.Copenhagen.Vienna.Leeds.Milton_keynes.Padova.Prague.Seattle1.Seattle2.Chicago1.Budapest.Cracow.Vienna..>>>LONDON.BERLIN1.BERLIN2

Finally got the boot! Black is a *shiver* moment, had goose bumps all over..
But I'll try and write a bit more..
This was my 3rd PJ show (after Pinkpop 2k and Arnhem). I had a great day even before the show. I got picked up at Antwerp Central by Pearl Wax and went to the venue with him and his g/f. Ran in to Buru and Per immidiately. Buru was next to me the night before in Arnhem and we had no time to talk after the gig so here's 2 hours of waiting, talking, chilling and toking some.
1st thought when i came into the venue: "No barrier for the front? Huge bummer!" But a nice venue tho." Wolfmother sounded good again, and seemed full of respect for PJ after seeing them play the night before. Jeff and Mike were watching their set from right in front of me.
Than the Pearl Jam show. No 10C tic (again) so clinged myself to the barrier/fence/thing a little more to the right from were Mike stands. Later moved a little more to the right which was the 2nd worst decision of the evening, because i had nothing to hold on to. The opening with Interstallar/ Corduroy was appropriate "The waiting drove us mad". By the time Animal started there were double the people in front of the stage than 5 minutes earlier, which kinda bothered me.. I dont mind it being packed, but most of these people were small, sweaty, long haired drunks bumping in to me. I'm pretty big so I just pushed back (I will resist) and stood my ground. I really enjoyed Hail Hail! Being in love and at a PJ show it just sounded better than ever. At this point I thought i heared something like a stereo play behind me, but noticed it was the echo in the venue.
Hearing Not For You, I'm Hiding and Unemployable made me (mentally) cross 3 more songs of my wishlist. Tho the enormous amount of pushing (Not4You and earlier) made it a bit hard to concentrate on the music, since I could see smaller folks being squashed all around me.
Even Flow was another great rendition of the song. The energy in the song, even after all those years is great and Mike and Matt simply blow away the crowd with their solo's.
Than the song I hoped to hear: Present Tense. Great to hear and another song of my wishlist. Just love the way it builds up to a climax with those beautifull lyrics!
I thought Big Wave sounded really cool live. On the record it sounded like just an average PJ song but the energy and fun that goes in and out of the song live is great. Followed by a nice part of crowd interaction of Small Town. Why Go as a set closer was very cool.
The t-shirt moment was very cool "We played Belgium for 4 hours." I wish they actually did.. Anyhoo Soon Forget was very nice and after that was an incredible version of Black. Eddy sang so intense and Mike's guitar work was really awesome. Now the crowd reaction, thats something I'll never forget! Singing along, clapping, coming to 2 climaxes of loud cheering, very cool.
Than I thought I'd chill out for a moment and treat myself to a nice cold Stella. But noooooooooooh "Sorry sir we dont serve beer during the show". "WHAT!? I thought i was in Belgium, the beer capitol of the world..?" After the security telling me I couldnt smoke (my sweet sweet mary Jane), this was a pretty big bummer since i was pretty thirsty.
I watched the rest of the show from half way on the floor, there was no way of getting back in front (believe me I tried, kindly). Crazy Mary and the extended Jam were brilliant! And everyone was smoking back there (only the 1st 4 rows get bothered by security, pretty stupid policy imho).
2nd encore started with another of my favorites, hands in the air:"I will stand arms outstretched, pretend I'm free to roam." Just pure emotion and beauty. Pretty frikkin awesome to see the guy from Wolfmother join Ed on stage for Hunger Strike (no big surprise since it was sound checked 4 times, but still). He pulled it of pretty good and showed the band a huge amount of respect. Baba was like a party.
Different feelings surround this show. The set rocked, but (the drunk part of) the crowd, the no beer rule during the show and the security blew. Non the less it was another great experience! So happy to have seen them live twice after 6 years and see two marvelous shows. Thanks Pearl Jam for that! And Pearl Wax for being such a cool host, my girl and me really loved your city.your light's reflected now0 -

Most of all 'Black' to my opinion: Eddie and the guys were obviously moved as well at that time being. I think we attended one of the best shows of the year... YES!0 -

Yes, me too!
I was surprised no one else had mentioned it over here. So i thought i was wrong and just THOUGHT i had seen him cry... But he actually did then, huh.. nice...
At the moment I thought that was the reason why everybody first started cheering after Black... that's why I did anyway..
Still waiting (very impatiently) for the bootleg now... (cannot download it myself :( )0 -
Yes, he started to cry after Black and...I don't know when else...but he surely did!!! We were mesmerized, he was absolutely sympathic!!! Belgian crowd deserved this warm feedback, it was a fantastic, unforgettable night for the band as well mostly because of you...then...in Antwerpen!!!Budapest.Budapest.Arnhem.Antwerpen.Vienna.Madrid.Katowice.Nova_rock.Nijmegen.Rotterdam.Berlin.Dublin.Belfast.London.Venice.Prague.Stockholm.Copenhagen.Vienna.Leeds.Milton_keynes.Padova.Prague.Seattle1.Seattle2.Chicago1.Budapest.Cracow.Vienna..>>>LONDON.BERLIN1.BERLIN2
