couple questions about chicago

So Im fliying into Midway and stayin @ a hotel at O'hare. Is it a pretty easy train ride from one airport to the other? Do I have to take any buses? How long would that subway ride take?

Also, how long is the ride from Ohare to the Vic stop?

And finally, what time do the trains stop, if at all, at night? I'd like to hang out downtown AFTER the show and come back to the hotel via subway.

well, im flying from Sarasota, FL, which does a nonstop to midway, not ohare.

i hate taking off/landing...the less i do that the better.

take the orange line to clark and lake (downtown) get off and get on the blue line. take that until it ends. (ohare)

on what day? why a shuttle bus? and where is it taking you?

it takes about 45mins on the train from ohare to downtown. but thats becuase of the amount of stops it makes. a bus could take an hour or more depending on time of day, and day.

yes, easily. if youre comin in between 4:30 and 6, it will be even longer.

I dont know , I dont know the train system to well and it seemed cool at the time to do. It takes me from the airport to the hotel downtown . 8 blocks from grant park.

trains are easy. its about 45 min train ride to downtown. but to play it safe, a bus to the front door of the hotel isnt a bad idea. traffic will probably suck and it will probably take an hour or so. so bus is fine.

agreed, it is typically 1 hour plus from Ohare to the Circle during evening rush hour..

yeah, its like 25 extra bucks , but when you get off the plane a shuttle bus takes you directly to your hotel. I figure if im going to chicago better get to the hotel in some style . jk. I figured a cab would be like 50 bucks, fuck that.

cab would be a flat rate of 30 something I think. bus - 25 train - 2 bucks.

choice is yours. what hotel are you staying at?

uh I think its called the hyatt chicago. Not sure of the address yet. Im shackin up with a few friends

train would be a piece of cake. get on blue line, get off at clark and lake, and walk (or short cab) to hotel. I live about 2 blocks from that hotel, its not far from the train stop.

If I didnt already pay for a shuttle , I would take you up on that offer. We should meet for a drink or something on saturday night after I get out of wrigley since you live a couple blocks from where im staying. I dont know what your plans are.

sure am . is it in grant park? I think it is. wish I had an extra. I actually kind of passed on the vic to spend more time in the city and to go to wrigley. There will be other shows of that caliber, garauteed!!!!

FYI, I live on the blue line (to ohare) and with construction and 15mph slow zones over much of the track up there, its a VERY long ride to ohare from the loop.

You'd be much better off taking a taxi or a shuttle...

ALSO.. please note.. for ANYONE taking the blueline downtown to switch to the redline for the VIC show...

Late night single track operation will be in effect throughout the week on the Blue Line’s O’Hare Branch between Grand and Damen. Northbound customers boarding at Grand, Chicago and Division should board on the southbound side of the platform at the following times.

9 p.m. Friday, July 27 until 9 a.m. Saturday, July 28
4 a.m. Sunday, July 29 until 4 p.m. Sunday, July 29
8 p.m. each evening until 4 a.m. each morning from Monday, July 30 through Thursday, August 2.

This makes for a VERY slow ride.. best to avoid the blueline if possible

I know I am crazy, but what are you gonna do? It was either go to the vic and fly directly home or go to lolla and spend some time in a city in which ive never ventured. Trust me my friend there will be more!! by the way , I believe you know my roommate---my2hands?
