I'm so sorry to hear this!  I remember Petey's many adventures and the heartbreak of his early death.  Even though we haven't heard from her in a while, I always enjoyed her posts.  As I recall, she was a great lover of all animals but her Dobes had the special place in her heart.

She posted this once and I've remembered it each time I've lost a dog and each time I've gotten another one.  It says better than anything I can think of how to turn grief into hope.

I HATE cancer.

It came to me that every time I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them.  And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart.  If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are.

I thought Monty was the little brother to Petey, who had a heart condition.  I remember pictures of Petey at Obedience class.  And how once they were going to cook some live lobsters, then suddenly the lobsters were nowhere to be found.  :whistle:

I had a dog named Petey years ago, so that's probably why I remembered hers so well.
