I'm so sorry to hear this!  I remember Petey's many adventures and the heartbreak of his early death.  Even though we haven't heard from her in a while, I always enjoyed her posts.  As I recall, she was a great lover of all animals but her Dobes had the special place in her heart.

She posted this once and I've remembered it each time I've lost a dog and each time I've gotten another one.  It says better than anything I can think of how to turn grief into hope.

I HATE cancer.

It came to me that every time I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them.  And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart.  If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are.

I thought Monty was the little brother to Petey, who had a heart condition.  I remember pictures of Petey at Obedience class.  And how once they were going to cook some live lobsters, then suddenly the lobsters were nowhere to be found.

Nah, we all have too many things to remember.
I had a dog named Petey years ago, so that's probably why I remembered hers so well.
