Jason's playing this Saturday night in St Augustine (about 30 min from me) but I'll be out of town.  Really wish I could be there.

Anyone else purchase the new album from Amazon?

I got the replacement album in and the last track on both Side A and B both sound like crap.  The rest of the album sounds great.  I don't get it.  I guess I'm just going to get a refund and order from Jason.
So I went through two copes from Amazon (both sounded like crap), so I returned both of them and ordered one from Jason's site. It sounded better, but still a little off. There's one line on Vampires that sounded like crap on all three albums (including the one from Jason's site). So, I figured maybe it was just the record. After purchasing some other new albums - some would skip, some would not. I replaced my needle, and the ones that skipped would still skip in the same places. I knew something was up. So I ordered a brush and some cleaner off of Amazon. I cleaned the new Jason album (along with a couple of other new ones that skipped) - and they all now sound perfect!

I will be cleaning all of my records now.

    Tupelo is a stand out.

Also Chaos and Clothes is about Ryan Adams, right?
I never put that together about Chaos and Clothes, but I can definitely see that.
interesting, I need to relisten to this one

Hard to debate that it isn't about Ryan. Which reaffirms my point in the Ryan Adams thread that Mandy Moore must be evil. I mean just look at the lyrical content of Prisoner and the b-sides. If you just even just look at all the song titles it basically tells a pretty awful story. And then to have your friend write a song about how terrible she was is pretty insane.
Why do you say it's about Ryan Adams?  I don't see it.
It blatantly references like four Ryan Adams songs.

I honestly don't know too much Ryan Adams. I love Heartbreaker and probably his last 3-4 most recent album (and I love Live at Carnegie Hall) but I haven't been able to get into the rest of his stuff. Maybe I need to give it another try. I always thought it sounded too country, but now I listen to some Country folk artist (Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Margo Price) so maybe I should give it another shot.

  • If you like Heartbreaker, Jacksonville City Nights and the Whiskeytown albums should be your type as well. Cold Roses is my personal favorite. That's pretty much a perfect album.

It was incredible! Amanda was there and the whole band is just so talented and tight, but the two of them play so well together and play off each other the whole show. It still would have been a great show if she wasn't there, but her presence brought it to another level.
