    Tupelo is a stand out.

Also Chaos and Clothes is about Ryan Adams, right?
I never put that together about Chaos and Clothes, but I can definitely see that.
interesting, I need to relisten to this one

Hard to debate that it isn't about Ryan. Which reaffirms my point in the Ryan Adams thread that Mandy Moore must be evil. I mean just look at the lyrical content of Prisoner and the b-sides. If you just even just look at all the song titles it basically tells a pretty awful story. And then to have your friend write a song about how terrible she was is pretty insane.
    Weird take.

I'm up to Anxiety and i'm really happy. I'm glad i did not read before hand that it was his "guitar album" because when i hear that i think of old school truckers songs like "never gonna change" and so far nothing rocks like that, but this guy is on a run. He can't make a bad album it seems.
His song writing keeps getting better. Easily one of my favorite writers making music now.

Really? You don't see it? Read the lyrics to the song. There are 3-4 things blatantly directed about DRA, and a couple other implied lines.
So i read the lyrics. I can see why folks say that, but I'm not sure if it is not just a coincidence. I don't know if Jason would use that as inspiration, but maybe he did.
The black metal t shirt line though is hard to get past when you look at it in the "ryan adams light"

The Love Is Hell reference is blatant and there are two direct references to I See Monsters. Plus the t-shirt thing and Ryan has posted pictures of his GTO before.

There is also a little shot at the guy from Dawes that MM is with.

    Regardless. Love this album

I don't think it's about the awful person that Mandy Moore was and I don't think Prisoner is somembig attack. Seems to me that Chaos & Clothes and Prisoner both point out that RA played his part in the split.

I don't think anyone comes off bad in the song. It's a song of support for RA and that love is hell.

Anyone else have  problem with the vinyl?  Track 5 on Side A sounds really muffled, defected.  And then the last track on Side B. I just put in for an exchange through Amazon.

I haven't spun mine yet, But his Southeastern pressed records have not sounded good at all. I have the Boot and the pink version of SE and a regular pressing of the last albuma nd they all sound terribly meh.

You think so?  I thought Southeastern and the RSD album sound great.

I thought the rest of the new album sounds great - it's only the last track of each side of thew new album that sounds like crap.  It has to be a defected record.

I'm not blown away by Southeastern's sound, but SMTF sounds incredible. If you got an early copy of SMTF, I'd grab a new copy. There was some kinda issue with the first run that was fixed pretty early on. Nashville Sound sounds really good, but is dirty as shit and the "songbook" was a bit of a letdown for me.

Good to know. I may pick up another SMTF. I have one of the first copies because I pre ordered.

Just spun, Nashville, and I agree with this assessment. Dirty as hell, sounds great after a clean.

You guys listen to Justin Townes Earle, right? He's Jason's old bro (they've had a falling out because JTE is in the RA vain where hes a bit immature) and Steve Earle's son. Anyway he put out a new album a few weeks ago and its all killer. reminds me of the shit he was putting out just under a decade ago. Its a bit more country than maybe people want, but guys a talent. Jason played all over his Harlem River Blues album. They toured together a bit when both had out their second solo albums. Great tour. Great show. Hopefully they sort shit out.

He talked about their falling out on WTF. He said JTE didn't think he should still be friends with Justin's ex after they broke up.
