Agreed. People are always willing to spend a little more when it's for a good cause, but that shouldn't affect regular private sales.mookieblalock said:$1900 is just silly. I understand it when it's for charity, but just for the vinyl is an example of impatience IMO.
It's a hopeless situation...0 -
I also agree. Knowing the money is going to charity is one thing, but I'd be hesitant to pay that kind of money for a private sale. $1900 USD is about the annual salary of a cab driver in Bali, or the income for FIVE families in the Congo. I'm not saying that charity has to go to foreign countries, as there are plenty of children in need in the US, Canada, and other "first world" countries, who are malnourished, abused, etc...
I'm sure there's a counterargument to that but still, the thought of spending that much on vinyl is kind of sickening.1992-07-21 Vancouver

If a speck of dust sells for $20,000 in order to help a fucking charity, I don't care. Has my swearing offended anyone? Peace. I'm all cranked up now. Time for a milkshake.mwplum said:And I'm sincerely not criticizing anyone who has sold one for that price, I'm speaking more to the craving/want/desire/ability to drop that kind of money on 4 records.

I don't think anyone is questioning the money raised for charity. It was the comment that a regular Benny sold privately would be worth more as a comparison because of these charity auctions.evsgjamm said:

I've read it a few times and still have no idea what he said. Other than he doesn't care about money for charity?1992-07-21 Vancouver

Theres a million of these things!0
-
You would think the signed and numbered poster would be worth more than the recording since there are fewer of them. Weird.0

I will never own one of these, unfortunately.I LOVE MUSIC.

Unfortunately I don't think my $1,200 max bid will win...0

This thing will go probably for about $2,500 I bet0

I hope so, then the price wouldn't be so ridiculous.cp3iverson said:Theres a million of these things!
I don't care how rare it is, if they printed only 5 copies and was hand delivered by the band it still aint worth over 2 grand.0 -
Oh, sorry about that. Just took a few swings at bidding on this. Your max still stands, but it's getting closer. Out of my reach, tax deduct might be nice, it qualifies right?whoyouare72 said:Unfortunately I don't think my $1,200 max bid will win...

I would of guessed 10c might have done an overrun a few hundred maybe? The trickle out on these auctions. I think there were 50 sold at the pop up in '13, and maybe 10 at the one before that. Even if there's only 2200 or 2300 copies out there.... it's still not alot.mace1229 said:

I guess it's worth what people are willing to pay. It's not like I'd even consider selling my copy for 2000
It's not easy getting people to cough 'em up. 0
