yes. I usually wait 4-5 songs in, to spark my joint, but when they opened up with CM, I lit right up.cp3iverson said:All this Philly talk had me break out the bootleg again. Opening with Crazy Mary blew my mind at the time.

yes, This. I was at West Chester U, and the finals thing and the weather were major factors. Also, if i remember correctly, wasn't this show kind of just thrown in after the tour was announced? Camden was already booked for a month later. Didn't they have an extra day or 2 off, then decided to have a primarily 10c members show? I dont know why i feel like this show was put together after the fact...or something like that....T-Bone 82 said:
I remember that distinctly. He was in awe and just had to step back from the mic. Well, either he was in awe or he LITERALLY couldn't hear himself talk. Probably both.pjhawks said:
yes and no. i think the crowd comes across on boot well but it was even sicker in the room. i think when Ed 1st goes to talk he just stops because the crowd is going crazy and you get that on the boot. i remember between the end of the 1st set and before the 1st encore people just going crazy and people banging on the signs and seats and such. i've been to 21 shows now and really nothing i've seen has come close to the noise level in the room that night. even the 4 night run to close the Spectrum wasn't as loud as that night in my opinion.Indifference71 said:pjhawks said:PJ at the Spectrum 04/28/03 - loudest crowd ever. Is the crowd reflected well on the boot? I feel like there are so many shows that have a great crowd but that doesn't come across on the boot at all...
I just don't know what did it that day. It was a very special show. I just remember everything about that day in general. The weather was BEAUTIFUL after a long winter, so I think maybe people were just fired up to be out and about.
Another factor could have been that it was just before finals week at most colleges in the area. I was at Villanova at the time and we were in that kind of dead week of classes ending but finals not yet beginning. Probably the same was true for Penn and I had a buddy from Rutgers who came to the show and had just finished his finals. Between the nice weather and the college year winding down, I think we had a lot of people in good spirits (and had imbibed in plenty of spirits).
Maybe that was it. I don't know...bottom line is that it was just phenomenal and I haven't seen a show like it since. They've come close a few times but haven't quite reached that level of epicness at the subsequent shows I've attended!0 -
San Siro was pretty fucking loud, but in the open air it didn't resonate like an arena show.Monkey Driven, Call this Living?0

Philly 1 will be 13 years to the day to this show. bring it once again Philly0

This show had to have the most 10C members that I remember. My # is 144xxx and we were in the 19th row. Never been that far back at that time. I heard there was like 10,000 10C tix that night. So, so loud.0

13 years to the day. hope it's that loud tonight.0
-
Yes. Let's do it. I was there 13 years ago and I'll be there tonight. Out of 20 PJ shows I've attended, 4/28/03 was the absolute greatest crowd. Even better than 10/31/09, the final night of the Spectrum.pjhawks said:13 years to the day. hope it's that loud tonight.
I was a Junior at Villanova on 4/28/03 and now I'm 33 years old all of the sudden. What happened? I'm bringing back the 20 year old version of myself tonight though. I hope my wife doesn't mind!"Darkness comes in waves, tell me, why invite it to stay?"0 -
Ive probably mentioned all this before
-the acoustics of the building completely amplified that crowd. Still the loudest PJ show ive been to even after this months tour. Best Philly crowd ive witnessed of all of the shows. Pretty sure Buenos Aires is better but as far as American crowds it beat the MSG ones ive been to (lower bowl/floor seats for every show)
-for some reason i still remember how nice the weather was that day because for most shows i can't remember that. It was like 70 all day.
-first time opening with Crazy Mary. That was amazing.

fwiw, Been to 80+ shows, including almost every tri-state/nyc/philly show since 1996 and scattered shows throughout the US... I always say hands down this 03 Spectrum show was the loudest crowd I've personally been a part of.pjhawks said:

Gonne play this one next. Thank you."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0

I doubt an american crowd can be louder than a European/South American though."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0
