ObamaCare will explode and we will all get together and piece together a great healthcare plan for THE PEOPLE. Do not worry!
    Watch @JudgeJeanine on @FoxNews tonight at 9:00 P.M.!

Which begs the question....why are you incapable of avoiding that? Why can't you make a "deal" to make sure the system that provides care to millions of people does not "explode"?

Trump is a fucking dumbass. There is no other explanation.
Yep. These are arguments that a selfish child would make.
And to top it off....the GOP initial response to their failure was to say "the Dems own Obamacare now". How stupid is that?

The Dems wanted the GOP bill to fail....it did.

If I led the dems I would be demanding that the GOP take ownership of healthcare. They claim it needs fixed yet they are too incompetent to put a bill together to fix it. That's on them.

As things get messy in the US, other countries pull back.

The Toronto school board has decided not to book further trips to the US, given possible entry restrictions at the border for some students. Trips that are already booked and paid for will go ahead, but if a single student is refused entry the whole class/team will turn back. All for one and one for all. Girl Guides of Canada has already announced they will not book trips to the US at this point.*

Edit: *Usual disclaimer - don't read the comments :). Unless you want to read the predictable "good riddance, we don't want you here anyway".

Not sure what your point is. I read that article a few days ago and this stuck out then as does now
A Winnipeg junior high school cancelled a trip by its track team to Minnesota in January because it wasn't certain all students would be able to cross the border.
It's pretty simple really, if you don't meet all the requirements to enter a country you don't get in. Period.
The school should wonder why the student may not be able to cross and address that not blame President Trump.

But who's hype was this? This is why the Trump is parallel Hitler stuff was such nonsense. Did Hitler have trouble getting bills passed? Did Mussolini? The first few weeks after the election the AMT was all "We're heading towards facism!!!!". Now the only facism on display is that of the past administration who spied on it's political enemies.
Trump was never going to gas a bunch of Jews like Hitler, but he definitely governs with an authoritarian bent. The reason he's not been able to get whatever he wants, whenever he wants so far is largely due to people resisting. So don't get cocky and don't take your eye off the ball.

A big reason the health care bill failed was because it was politically untenable. People HATED it, and they let their Congresspeople know. So to say Trump is "all hype" and we don't have to worry about him -- that's the exact moment we do have to start worrying, when we let our guard down.
So far their has been zero evidence that he governs with an "authoritarian bent". That is just an emotional feeling you have. It is based on nothing. He tweets, he signs some executive orders subject to judicial restraint and he tries to get legislation through congress. No different then any other president before him. The authoritarian narrative is just your projection.
If you think there's "zero evidence" I don't think you've been paying attention. I also don't think you have a very good understanding of how autocrats come into power.

You're going to tell me Trump has displayed a healthy respect for our constitutional institutions, the rule of law and cultural norms. Yeah, get out of here with that.

Yes, "he tweets" .... constant attacks on the judiciary and the free press, the only two checks against his authority in our society. He has his followers believing that he is the only one to be trusted. He has attempted to purge the government of people he finds "disloyal" to him. Breitbart operates as state-run media. If you talk to people who have studied the modern rise of autocrats in Eastern Europe will tell you he is fairly brazenly stealing from their playbook.

Not every autocrat looks like Mussolini. Nowadays, they look more like Viktor Orban. It's where Trump would head, if we let him.

Here is the byline on Breitbart... does it shock you that they are blaming Ryan and calling for his replacement? Bannon has been working against Ryan for two years now.

Republican officials in Congress and the White House are now openly discussing finding a GOP replacement to Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) as Speaker of the House, after Ryan failed to pass the American Health Care Act out of the House and misled the public and President Donald Trump when he promised repeatedly the bill would pass.

Paul Ryan is a huge dick head obviously, so this is actually pretty good news despite the ridiculousness. I hope Ryam'sncaeer crashes and burns - I'm not too picky about how it goes down.

Awwww, there's an amazingly cute little trump March in philly today. I'd say a whole 75 people showed up.

The radical left had a massive group show up to shut it down, in their words, and there was about 4 times as many people. There was a lot of worry about it turning violent but so far it has stayed peaceful.

My understanding is that they put themselves in a place to be spied on. Is this not correct? They weren't being spied on because they were political opposition.

Well thanks to Trump the US is now a top threat to human rights according to Human Rights Watch, so is that the first real 'win' for this administration?
  • This is an interesting article about the phone call from President Trump saying he pulled the vote. Full conversation here. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/perspective-‘hello-bob’-president-trump-called-my-cellphone-to-say-that-the-health-care-bill-was-dead/ar-BByHQUr
“Hello, Bob,” Trump began. “So, we just pulled it.”
“We couldn’t get one Democratic vote, and we were a little bit shy, very little, but it was still a little bit shy, so we pulled it,”
“As you know, I’ve been saying for years that the best thing is to let Obamacare explode and then go make a deal with the Democrats and have one unified deal. And they will come to us; we won’t have to come to them, The beauty,” Trump continued, “is that they own Obamacare. So when it explodes, they come to us, and we make one beautiful deal for the people. But we couldn’t get one Democrat vote, not one. So that means they own Obamacare and when that explodes, they will come to us wanting to save whatever is left, and we’ll make a real deal. I don’t blame Paul. I don’t blame Paul at all.
Does Trump regret starting his agenda this year with health care?
“No, I don’t,” he said. “But in a way I’m glad I got it out of the way.”
“Look, I’m a team player,” Trump said of the Republican Party. “I’ve played this team. I’ve played with the team. And they just fell a little bit short, and it’s very hard when you need almost 100 percent of the votes and we have no votes, zero, from the Democrats. It’s unheard of.”

What's sad is that when there's such an epidemic of partisan politics, it's a reasonable scapegoat for the failure of a bill which failed not because of partisan politics this time, but because of plain old poor quality.
