Why is there no album for PJ's Unplugged performance?

Hey man, I fit that criteria as well. My problem is that it was just fast songs on acoustic instruments. It didn't translate well. Most unplugged shows had rearranged arrangements of songs or something got changed up. We didn't get that. If it had just waited another year it could have been a classic one.HughFreakingDillon said:

They got it right in 2003 with the experiment, Santa Barbara and then Benaroya. Like others said, it was too soon for them. I enjoy it for what it is, but even waiting just one year would have been such a different set.
I see what you are saying, but I love that recording. Probably because I a) love Pearl Jam and b) am a sucker for the unplugged format.0 -

I've always felt that it was because it was too short. The Nirvana and AIC sets are fairly long and pretty much fill up an entire cd. PJ's set on TV had 6 songs, and 2 that weren't aired. It is a shame the official dvd doesn't have RiTfW. It was pretty cool they added oceans to it, but you still have to watch the bootleg to see the whole thing :( If I want to listen to it, I have the FLAC from the dvd, and just stuck a FLAC in of RitFW to the end of it. I make do0

might be a short setlist. but still a great performance. underrated in terms of airings it geta. 8 songs is enough for a cd especially if you add some of the in between momentsI miss igotid880

I don't disagree. In fact I think it would be the perfect size for a Record Store Day Vinyl0

I disagree as I like the fact that that they just traded their electric guitars for acoustic and then wailed away on those bastards!!!!ledvedderman said:

The music notes are smoothed out and you can hear the individual guitar parts way more clearly and concisely. Add to that Ed's raw emotional singing and acrobatics and you got a keeper baby!0 -
This might be why they chose a dvd release over an audio release. I think some have made the point that it isnt the strongest set on its own, but combine it withthe visual performance, it becomes way more digestible.TJ25487 said:

They'd been perfecting the unplugged format at all the Bridge School Benefit performances over the years.ledvedderman said:Because it's not a very good set? (hides for cover)

there's a 'bootleg' of the mtv unplugged available. it's gotten pricey but if you're patient and keep your eyes open you can get it cheap (got mine for $20 about 2 months ago)First Show: Springfield, MA 4/6/940

Weird timing for this post. I popped into a small record store in Amagansett, NY last weekend (Innersleeve Records - great store for any locals) and they had the "bootleg" version on vinyl for $39.99. Not an outrageous price so I of course had to pick it up. It's suspect because it's likely not from an analog source, but it sure sounds amazing and very happy that I nabbed it. I wouldn't pay this price though: https://www.amazon.com/MTV-Unplugged-Vinyl-Pearl-Jam/dp/B01ENY7VX2. It does have a cool, short instrumental (tuning) after Black that I've never heard before.9/8/98 (NJ), 9/10/98 (NY), 8/23/00 (NY), 8/24/00 (NY), 8/25/00 (NY), 4/30/03 (NY), 7/8/03 (NY), 7/9/03 (NY), 5/12/06 (NY), 6/1/06 (NJ), 6/3/06 (NJ), 8/5/07 (IL), 6/22/08 (DC), 6/24/08 (NY), 6/25/08 (NY), 7/1/08 (NY), 10/4/09 (TX ), 10/30/09 (PA), 5/20/10 (NY), 5/21/10 (NY), 9/3/11 (WI), 9/4/11 (WI), 7/19/13 (IL), 10/18/13 (NY), 10/19/13 (NY), 10/3/14 (MO), 9/23/15 (NY), 9/26/15 (NY), 5/1/16 (NY), 5/2/16 (NY), 8/5/16 (MA), 8/22/16 (IL), 4/7/17 (NY), 6/18/18 (UK), 8/20/18 (IL), 9/2/18 (MA), 9/4/18 (MA), 9/18/21 (NJ), 9/26/21 (CA), 10/1/21 (CA), 10/2/21 (CA), 9/10/22 (NY), 9/11/22 (NY), 9/14/22 (NJ), 9/16/22 (TN), 9/22/22 (CO), 8/31/23 (MN), 9/2/23 (MN), 9/5/23 (IL), 9/7/23 (IL), 5/16/24 (NV), 5/18/24 (NV), 5/28/24 (WA), 5/30/24 (WA), 8/29/24 (IL), 8/31/24 (IL), 9/3/24 (NY), 9/4/24 (NY), 9/7/24 (PA), 9/12/24 (MD), 9/15/24 (MA), 9/17/24 (MA), 4/24/25 (FL), 4/26/25 (FL)0

Could this fit on one vinyl?I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

I think the uncut version is 50 minutes, but there's a bit of dead time between songs and bantering and stuff. If you took out the dead space, you could probably cut out 10 minutes and fit it on a record (all 8 songs and some of the better banter)?mcgruff10 said:Could this fit on one vinyl?

speaking of vinyl releases, I'm really surprised that Stone's "Bayleaf" has never been released on vinyl.I LOVE MUSIC.
