Thanks! Even though Michaels is a big box for sure, I think this guy is giving the poster the proper treatment, which is why the price is higher than the $79 deal I've been hearing about. He talked specifically about price of the poster, UV glass, not attaching the poster to the board or glass (that's why I was charged for spacers). This guy showed me a bunch of his own posters he collects and he had some real good (and expensive) ones, so I think its getting done the right way. Probably worth the extra $ in the long run.riley540 said:
I've gotten picky with framing. A lot of the big box places don't have the posters value in their head. I always pay for UV or Museum plexiglass to prevent any color fading. I also make sure they don't mount my posters to any boards. Always make sure they use an acid free boards and they don't attach it. Posters are collectibles, and big box stores know how to not do the best jobs. Always pay the extra for good local jobs!bbiggs said:I just took my Wrigley Faile to Michaels to get framed. It was $130 after their "80% off." I've read a lot on here about $79 deals, etc. Some of the line item charges include acid free foam core backing, preservation, preservation fit and spacers. The rest is the frame and glass. No mat. Just curious if anyone knows if all of this is necessary or overkill. The guy is cool, seems to know his stuff and appreciated art, so I don't think he's trying to hose me. That said, I'd rather pay $80 or so if the "extras" aren't needed. Thanks for any insight.

I've had michaels botch on a few projects before for me, so I'm always cautios and a bit naturally critical. I've had a few things framed, and I feel like I spend more on framing than I do posters at times. The issues of collecting. I looked into collectors insurance... more money than car insurance. Life...

Anyone got a matted and framed Tampa 2016? Love to see it. Debating what colors to use in the mat. Nothing from american frame matches the colors in the poster, so debating going to a custom shop to see if they can match, or saving money and doing something with what I got from american frame.0

GM17961,
Some great work there - well done. James Eads produces some great artwork. One of my favourite prints is his foo fighters roof top citifield poster from 2015..... I see this one and think the Pearl Jam in Central park posters fell so short of what they could have been.
Have a great week.0 -
