That is cool. Been looking for an excuse to get to this festival. Last year's lineup was really bad. Hopefully fan feedback will kickstart things and they can revamp momentum.eeriepadave said:0 -

Oh well, after TOOL was announce in Boston and NYC, kind of thought they might be doing this. On the flip side it might make it more likely for a TOOL show in Philly or DC if they play some Northeast dates around then.pjhawks said:

            Line-up announced and as usual

With the exception of the Arctic Monkeys and a handful of artists, I’ve seen better this year.

Yeah, I'll be looking for the Arctic Monkeys & Kendrick Lamar local dates that will hopefully come out once the festival sells out... IF it sells out...0

We went to a fest called Riot Fest in Chicago this past September, I'm still shaking my head in amazement at how fantastic the line up was, from so many different angles of music. Definitely yawning overall at this lineup, and it's the closest festival to us.0

Rock is clearly not the main draw at major festivals anymore0

I for one am ok with that, especially since some festivals started as "multi-genre" festivals, like Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Austin City Limits. They were never intended to just be "rock festivals".cp3iverson said:Rock is clearly not the main draw at major festivals anymore
But a weak lineup is a weak lineup, regardless of the genres, so that's my issue with this Firefly lineup (and several others). I really enjoyed Governer's Ball last year, was excited for several bands each day on the lineup. Not even going this year at all, hardly anything I'm excited about.0 -
Yeah but theyre not even getting rock headliners and barely any on the second tier. So the multigenre thing is done for now
You could see the change in the last few years. 8 or 9 years ago The Replacements at Coachella would’ve had 30,000 people. I think they drew about 900 in 2014.

I hear your point about the Replacements, but looking at the top tiers of the major festivals, it's kind of "rock-ist" of you to declare the "multigenre thing done for now" just because rock specifically isn't represented as you want it to be. There is more than one other genre of music ya know...
And several other genres are represented in those headlining and top tier slots.                          0 -

If anyone is looking for rock.... this festival is always where you can find it0 -

I think the best festival lineups at the top are something like: Major rock band, Major alternative artist, Major Hip Hop artist, Classic Act (stevie wonder, elton, etc etc). Google any Coachella lineup from 05-10 and you’ll be amazed at how different things are today. I know this is firefly and all but stillJH6056 said:I hear your point about the Replacements, but looking at the top tiers of the major festivals, it's kind of "rock-ist" of you to declare the "multigenre thing done for now" just because rock specifically isn't represented as you want it to be. The main audience clearly wants hip hop/rnb/and electronic these days. At the Drive In and Stone Roses reunions arent drawing in those kids. Thats for sure. Times have changed. I havent

21st century hip hop sucks... EDM sucks... modern R&B sucks....
Live instruments do not suck0 -

The fact that you lump ALL 21st century hip hop, ALL EDM, and ALL "modern R&B" each into giant single categories is telling... (i.e. anyone who's listened to a good amount of at least 2000s hip hop or modern R&B would know how much variety in each genre there is). But hey, it's all about taste, and though I doubt you've listened to a significant amount of any of those genres, it's completely your right to declare them all sucking.my2hands said:21st century hip hop sucks... There is modern R&B that has all live instruments btw, but that just goes to my 1st point....

WOW, this line-up pretty much sucks (except for like a handful of artists)
