PJ MSG #1 PJ Fenway #2 Caught both the Guns n Roses tour and the Axl/DC tour, both phenomenal ICP on Halloween, their best HW show in YEARS. Saw Babymetal for the first time, quite the experience. Small venue shows for Scott H Biram and the Goddamn Gallows. Gogol Bordello is always an experience, although the Gypsy Punk cd Anniversary tour wasn't as great as I imagined it would be.
I attended 27 shows this year, all were great but some shined more than others: 1. Green Day at the Palladium-Huge Band, Small venue, took my neice as a 17th birthday gift, INCREDIBLE SHOW 2. Pearl Jam -MSG 1-Closest I've ever been to the stage, made a few new friends, nabbed some picks and gave them out to people who weren't lucky enough to get one. 3. Bad Religion at the Palladium-Any time I see these guys at the Palladium, it is ALWAYS amazing! 4. Bad Religion at the Observatory in Santa Ana - Met what I can only describe as my Concert Soulmate at this show, awesome gal who (along with her son) have been to about 90% of the shows I've gone to for the past decade, it was crazy realizing we were at so many of the same shows over the years! Spent the night up against the rails keeping the moshers from crushing her and her son. 5. KROQ Weenie Roast- Red Hot Chili Peppers canceled, which sucked BUT we got bonus band Blink 182, and this was the first time I heard Panic at the Disco's cover of Bohemian Rhapsody, which I could only describe as Surrealistically AMAZING! It started when I was in the bathroom and there was this harmonic dischord of voices, sober AND drunk, able to sing and not, singing along, as did I. I walked back to where we were sitting, singing the whole time, looking left and right as everyone sang in their own way, good and bad. I got back to my group as I sang along to that last "Anywhere the wind blows....". My friends said DUDE YOU MISSED THE WHOLE THING! I countered, dudes... I just walked through a freaking music video!!!!
Other shows I caught included Almost Acoustic Christmas, Rancid, Flogging Molly, Pennywise, The Interrupters, Mana and of course Temple of the Dog, but those were my top five!
I always wanted to attend those kroq shows but for whatever reason never did. Congrats on being at those shows!
Out of the 50-something concerts I attended this year, these were my top favorites!
1. Pearl Jam- Fenway 1 - Boston 2. Adele - MSG - NYC 3. Temple of the Dog - MSG - NYC 4. Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band - MSG - NYC 5. Miike Snow - (le) poisson rouge - NYC 6. HAIM - Mo Pop Festival - Detroit 7. Bad Religion/Against Me! - Irving Plaza - NYC 8. Japandroids - Knitting Factory - NYC 9. Dave Matthews Band - John Paul Jones Arena - Charlottesville, VA 10. Dixie Chicks - MSG - NYC
Honorable mentions: Black Sabbath at MSG, Iggy Pop at The Capitol Theatre, Jenny Lewis at The Capitol Theatre

It had been a long time goal of mine to go to both KROQ's Weenie Roast and Almost Acoustic Christmas in the same year, it took twenty some odd years but i finally crossed it off my bucket list Took my niece to both shows and reminded her a lot how cool i thought it was that she got to see both at such a young age but i dont think it registered as high for her lol, she still loved the shows though.

I lived in SoCal from 93-98 and got to see that areas music explosion. The one that I really wanted to go to was with sublime. Pissed I missed that. Congrats again!

My seats on 8/23 were 3 rows from the top but I had a blast and loved it. I lucked into GA tickets in the front section through a guy at work who had a hookup with the venue for the 8/30 show. The combination of the awesome tickets and the rare setlist on 8/30 made it my top show of the year

Looking back, it was a pretty tame year for concerts, but a lot of that is because of kids. I think our 7 and 3 year old were at all of these except 2. Love to expose them to live music!
1. The Head & the Heart - Minneapolis 2. Trampled By Turtles - Duluth 3. Charlie Parr (x2) - MN 4. The Okee Dokee Brothers (Kids love them) - St. Paul
We did a lot more theatrical/play shows this year than concerts. My wife went to The Doobie Brothers & Journey and Indigo Girls with friends. She also scored us complimentary passes to one of the final A Prairie Home Companion shows with Garrison Keillor by writing an email to his secretary because our 7 year old loved his show and tickets were insane. At the rehearsal they surprised us with on stage tickets for the live show and our son got to meet the cast at the end. So cool!

So cool!
Hoping for some PJ in 2017!
