I think that depends on if it's a Wii hit or a Wii-U blunder.Jason P said:We can look forward to the same supply / demand Nintendo shenanigans when the Switch comes out next year ....

Wii-U is the first time Nintendo flooded the market and it failed. The Switch is going to trickle out like the mini-NES.Spiritual_Chaos said:

It didn't help that most ppl thought the Wii-U was just a slightly better Wii, when it was actually a completely different system.Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250

This is almost guaranteed. Nintendo dropped the ball bigtime on the Wii-U and the last thing they want to do is create more units then there are demand.Jason P said:

I hope the Switch is a success. As a frequent traveler, I'd love to be able to take that thing on trips with me.0 -

They might overestimate (Wii-U) or underestimate (Wii) demand, but they won't artificially strain their supply. Show me receipts of Nintendo ever doing this.
In what way did Nintendo "flood" the market with the Wii-U?"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -
Sony and Microsoft show no patterns that Nintendo exhibits. My receipts are my eyeballs and father time.Spiritual_Chaos said:

When the NES Classic was first announced, there were plenty of vlogs and blogs with articles suggesting that there'd be no reason for scarcity in supply due to hardware shortages because the chips used were both inexpensive and easy to manufacture. Nintendo created this bullshit themselves. It's not a conspiracy when NO ONE can find these damn things ANYWHERE. And when they do show up, a store gets 1 or 2! I've not seen anything like this since the Playstation 2, and dare I say this is much worse!
Nintendo had an opportunity to sell a fuckload of these things for Christmas and they failed immensely. Now maybe 5000 households will have one, and I'm willing to bet about 4500 of those households paid 2-5x retail to get one.
They did the same thing with Amiibos and they're doing it again with the NES Classic. So yes, Nintendo is trickling it out to create hype. Which is absolutely fucking retarded because people were going nuts when it was announced. They KNEW the demand was there and STILL failed to create the supply. It's not doing them any good and it's not doing consumers any good.Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250 -
Seems like a great reason to boycott the product.HesCalledDyer said:When the NES Classic was first announced, there were plenty of vlogs and blogs with articles suggesting that there'd be no reason for scarcity in supply due to hardware shortages because the chips used were both inexpensive and easy to manufacture. Don't even have to boycott it, Nintendo is doing that for us.Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250

So, what you are saying is that there were no problems getting a PS3, PS4 or the Xbox 360 when they launched?Jason P said:
