Any Pearl Jam Things to do in LA?

LukinFanLukinFan Florida Posts: 29,013
I'm going to LA and Anaheim for a week next week. It's my first time to the west coast. Are there any PJ related things to see/visit? Thanks!

    I find this question....weird.

You know PJ is a Seattle based band, right?
I know I was born and I know that I'll die. The in between is mine.

Not necessarily a weird question, I mean, even Atlanta has PJ related sites.
Most of them are drive bys though.
Venues to drive by: Florentine Gardens (show in 91), The Greek, The Fonda
Jack Irons went to Fairfax High School, which is near The Grove (Mall and Farmers Market with great food)
PJ recorded some of Lightning Bolt at Henson Studios.

PS - That Clemson game was a tough one.

Good point. Tonight, I'm going to drive by the old grocery store where PJ played in 92 here in Houston.

Fairfax taught many a great musician :)

LukinFan, there may not be a lot of PJ history in my city, but there's plenty of it musically. Drive through Laurel Canyon, along Love Street, and check out the (country) store where the creatures still meet.

Take a moonlight drive to Blue Jay Way.

So many iconic clubs too. The Roxy, Troubadour, Viper Room, etc.

Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica has some good street musicians.

Have a blast while here, and enjoy the show!

    Awesome - thank you!

And yes, that Clemson game was brutal. Just gave it away to them at the end.

Very cool - I'm also a big Doors fan as well. I had no idea that Love Street was a real place. I plan to check out the Whiskey a GoGo too.

Yes, Love St = Rothdell Trail

Some of this is a little outdated, but it's a good reference guide for Doors locations in LA.

We also have a lot of cool record stores, Amoeba Records in Hollywood being the biggest. I also like the Record Parlour and Timewarp Records.

    Have fun!

Get-in price for tickets behind the stage is down to $10 + fees. Will be plenty of extras floating around.

Haha. We used to frequent a German deli in the heart of Compton. Then things...turned.

And yeah, the Grammy museum was very cool - saw the Beatles exhibit there a couple months ago. Grand Central Market first (go with an appetite and tolerance for crowds).

Grand Central Market is a good call. If you are into architecture (and/or a fan of the movie Blade Runner) the inside of the Bradbury Building is cool to see. It's across from the market (on Broadway) & open most days from 9-5.

Yes, we went there that day too. I was wowed by it and by the old, beautiful architecture in the area.

Oh man, Roger! I had seats listed for face on Dogs for a while. Ended up giving them to a friend for he and his gal to go with.

Yes, this show isn't even sold out, so not sure why you wouldn't grab some single tickets. Yes, you and your guest(s) will sit apart, but who cares.

Universal Music Group, the music publishing company for Pearl Jam, is on Colorado Ave in Santa Monica.

    http://www.billboard.com/articles/business/6882873/pearl-jam-universal-music-publishing-group

    That's all I got.

Except maybe see a show at Wiltern Theatre, where Eddie played a solo show a while back?
