Someone here has got to explain the David Ross circle jerk. It makes little to no sense

Alright, quoting myself. Talk to me about this David Ross infatuation

The guy is retiring. The Cubs were giving him a nice sendoff in his final regular season home game. He's always been thought of as a great teammate, and a better person.....and he hit a dinger in his last official AB. I don't think it really goes any deeper than that.

Love Ross.......he is like an cheesy uncle to most of the players... but an excellent vet to have on the roster. Wrigley is just soaking in the love and I am glad fans and team alike are enjoying it....

but Hammel on the other hand :anguished:

Joe Madden told him when he came out he had never done this before and then pulled him so he could get one more ovation, pretty cool. When I saw he hit a home run, I'm like are you kidding me. (Not to stray off topic) Of course that was until a few hours later when Dodgers hit a walk off to win the division on Vin's last game. Baseball can be so darn beautiful at times.

Maybe. The entire Pittsburgh series might get rained out.

Yeah, the Ross "send off" and ovation was really cool! It looked like Lester had the look of "Why is he coming out here?" at first....hahahaha!

Ha I guess that I just don't get the fact the Cubs gave a back up catcher who has played less than a full seasons worth of games for the team a Hero's send off. At first I thought it was cool then I got kinda confused when it kept happening. Haha.

And half serious, just found it kinda random.

I really hope Ross sticks around (or at the very least comes back in a couple years) in some sort of coaching capacity.

When the Dodgers players all came out and waved to Vin, that was one of the best baseball moments I've ever witnessed.

I can understand a yankees fan's hatred of Ross. I almost appreciate it..... With him coming from the Red Sox. I think that is the greatest thing about baseball fans, when factoring in your last comment. There's plenty of old school hatred in the game, plenty of "your team sucks", plenty of I don't like this player "just because." But there's a certain fraternity you're in when you truly love the game. An appreciation for the history. The old Yankee stadium..... That's a place that baseball dreams are made of. I'll never be a Yankee fan, but I'll always dream about what it would have been like to have played there....to have grown up going there to see ball games. Although I'm not a tiger's fan, Tiger Stadium is where I saw the most games growing up. I'll always remember sitting at tiger stadium, where legends played. Wrigley has always been the pinnacle for me, and when I walk in, I get to feel the same way my father, and his father, and my great grandfather felt when they walked in as kids. It's more than a game..... It's about life and love, and the people you'll never forget. So, thank you for that last comment, because it shows you're a true fan of the game. Everyone should appreciate that.

Man, Rondon has been garbage since he came back. Sure, we're up a couple touchdowns in this game, but there's gonna be a 4-3 or 2-2 game next month where we need him to hold the fort down. I'm not sure he can do it.

Last 7 outings he has a 6 era, last 15 outings a 5.93. I just can't trust him in a close game at this point. Up 3 maybe Id throw him but if anyone gets on I'd yank him. In the playoffs Id prefer to see 7th Edwards 8th Strop 9th Chapman.

Also saw Cubs plan on 11 pitchers and 14 position players for playoffs. My guess

    SP - 4
    Lester
    Hendricks
    Arrieta
    Lackey

    Bullpen - 7
    Chapman
    Strop
    Edwards
    Rondon
    Wood
    Montgomery
Grimm or Smith for last spot although I wouldn't mind Zastryzney
Cahill and Hammel can watch in street clothes

    Postition Players - 14
    Rizzo
    Baez
    Russell
    Bryant
    Soler
    Fowler
    Heyward
    Contreras
    Ross
    Montero
    Zobrist
    Szczur
2 of these 3 Lastella, Coghlan, Almora, probably Almora is odd man out but I hope he makes it. Coghlan is just awful and Lastella deserves to be punished for his childish behavior.

I'd love to see Almora get the nod over LaStella. He really came back down to earth after his little tantrum.

I'd agree, but I think they will want to carry an extra pitcher on their playoff roster. Having more versatile guys like Bryant, Baez and LaStella make having an extra pitcher and 3 catchers much more feasible.

I can only shit bricks twice, and both will be part joy and part disbelief.
    1. out 27 of the 4th win of the NLCS.
    2. out 27 of the 4th win of the WS.

Anything other than those 2 things, and it will be nothing new to me, or any of us really. I like seeing the most successful regular season in 80 years. This has been a really fun. But I want pennants and hardware.
