That St. Lawrence river waste water thing has be grossly misrepresented by people. That was done because it had to be done, and it was done in the most environmentally responsible way possible. People act like it was raw sewage dumped in the river out of convenience, and nothing could be farther from the truth. Do a little research. They handled that necessary work the best way possible. There weren't any other better options.

No it wasn't convenience. Do some research. Some research outside of angry editorials. And I am a big champion of the environment, unlike you, so I'm not about to defend people for acting irresponsibly in this context. I looked into it because I was appalled and discovered the truth. It was handled the best way possible.

If the movement ever wants me on board with them, then the movement need to act more responsibly. not jumping up down and shutting down important hearings. Anyways we'll just have to agree to disagree. I do love how when I say the enviro movement can fuck it's self, a couple of you get your feathered ruffled...but Rex is not entitled to his opinion without a ... he can go fuck himself, and really your not likely to find many opposed to oil in fort mac...goes without saying I would think. I guess those so opposed to oil could go off the grid and live like 1850, except very few of you are willing to give up your convenience's.

Well, I guess it's that the "movement" and the particular people you are saying are jumping up and down aren't mutually exclusive. Environmental activists aren't always on the same page, and the organized environmental movement, i.e. the one where politicians are advocating for it, certainly can't be grouped in with random protestors. I'm not sure which "movement" you are referring to I guess, and encourage you not to clump everyone who cares about the environment together, as though someone in the NDP or Green Party who is invested in furthering government action on the environment and some 20 year old who protests at some hearing by screaming are in the same boat together. (that said, barring violence or destruction, I don't oppose environmental protests, even if they are on the more extreme side, because I place the environment before money. Period. I do NOT in any way support new pipelines. I will support properly maintaining old pipelines, but definitely not new ones. We should be reducing oil output, not increasing it).

Well good luck with the movement. I guess none of the enviro people are interested in living like 1850...

Pardon? I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean the opposite of what you wrote, then no, phasing out our reliance on oil is progress into the future, not moving backwards. New energy sources and technologies are the future man. Not oil. So I see no need to be building vast new infrastructure that is harmful to the environment in and of itself for a resource that is basically the dinosaur of the energy industry, right behind coal.

You got all that from my 2 sentences...where have I ever promoted harming the environment? I simply said fuck enviro people that shut down important hearings. Sorry I'd rather buy my oil n gas from my own country ... not the Middle East, and since I need to get to work and I have no other choice but to drive, then I need oil until theirs an affordable alternative...

Are we supposed to be mad or glad? I would think that this kind of thing could be a first step in dealing with the extremist problem, but only if Trudeau is aware of this connection and consciously hoping to do something about it somehow. If he's not, then it's most likely that his advisors are doing a really shitty job by choosing a mosque for him to visit without vetting it properly. I seriously doubt that he knew about these ties and just shrugged them off and pretended everything is okay as the person quoted in the article suggests.

not sure. just posted it for information. I'm quite surprised, TBH. I'd like to know if he knew, and if he did, why visit it? to bridge the extremist gap, as you said, or another reason?

if he didn't know, as you said, that was a big faux pas on the part of CSIS.

I did a quick google search and all that came up for me was the sun newspapers ... so not really sure if this just typical of the sun, taking a non story and making a story of it. In this case I'm going to have to trust that the PMO office did its job...but who really knows these days.

Definitely don't support that Trans Mountain pipeline. Just about everyone in BC opposes it. It would literally run right through my own neighborhood too. But it's not a "not in my neighborhood" position on my part - I don't think any new pipelines should be built. That money and effort should be going towards investing in new renewable energy sources and technologies, and just maintaining the existing pipelines.
