Apparently you fail to comprehend the concept of a Petition. You're only supposed to post in it, if you support the cause. Sheeesh!

I would love to buy their back catalogue on Vinyl though and it's pretty hard to track down on a students wallet.
More vinyl in circulation please!0 -

To answer the why re-master question. The tecnology today is a lot better and a good re-master can make the older albums sound cleaner, louder, and fatter!!! I think for the time being only albums that need a re-master are Ten to No Code though. I would die to hear VS. in a remastered state. Unfortunately for us, and the more likely thing PJ will do will be to wait until 20th or 25th anniversary editions and release them as remastered 2 disc sets with one album being the original release and the second being b-sides (or rare live tracks to fill a second disc). That's my opinion. And I'm out.0

PS - Who is Steve Hoffman? What has he done? I have never heard of him.0

Google him and check out his extensive work. But it's the sound of his CDs and Vinyl records that matters. Simply beautiful!!!0 -
does he do that louder is better quality crap?*~Pearl Jam will be blasted from speakers until morale improves~*0

The bad news is that record companies generally charged the bands for the cost of re-mastering...if that's still the practice, we're going to be waiting awhile for this.
However, I would appreciate the effort. All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.0 -
Will he add more reverb???Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

Absolutely not! That's what he's completely against!!0 -
I love the albums the way they were recorded, hate to spread negativity but I'd really hate to listen any PJ album remastered in any shape or form.I can't see why anyone would want to hear Yield,No Code,Binaural or any of the others different from what they are.It may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.

ten needs it badly. the band knows it, too. jeff has said so in interviews. waaaayyyyy too much reverb on that one. the remixes on rearviewmirror are far better than the album versions. the others are all fairly well produced, although binaural and self-titled are slightly lacking, IMHO...6/26/98, 8/17/00, 10/8/00, 12/8/02, 12/9/02, 4/25/03, 5/28/03, 6/1/03, 6/3/03, 6/5/03, 6/6/03, 6/12/03, 6/13/03, 6/15/03, 6/18/03, 6/21/03, 6/22/03, 7/12/03, 7/14/03, 10/3/04, 10/5/04, 9/9/05, 9/11/05, 9/16/05, 5/16/06, 5/17/06, 5/19/06, 6/30/06, 7/23/06, 8/5/07, 6/30/08, 8/23/09, 8/24/09, 5/4/10, 5/7/10, 9/3/11, 9/4/11, 10/11/13, 10/17/14, 8/20/160 -

On second thoughts, the RVM mixes were good but I'd have to disagree on Binaural,I think Sleight Of Hand has some of the best production they've ever had,the way it was recorded gives the album the atmosphere it has.It may be the devil or it may be the Lord

Steve Hoffman always works within the concept of staying faithful to what the band intended. Do no harm.
But his specialty is getting the best from the original analogue master tapes and taking the sound quality to a new high quality level.
And with his expertise, his masterings for the CD version of an album, always comes as close as possible in getting the best qualities of analogue into the digital (CD) realm. Without the weaknesses or shortcomings of analogue. It's a beautiful and musical sound. Eargasmic!0 -
Having Steve Hoffman remaster the entire catalog would be a great idea. I actually posted this in a similar thread a few months back.
I think each album should be re-released as a CD/DVD set. The DVD should contain DVD-Audio/DVD-Video of the entire album in 5.1 surround sound, music videos, documentaries, etc.
Elliot Scheiner should do the 5.1 mix. In my opinion, he's the best. Just check out the 5.1 mixes of the R.E.M. albums he did a few years back."I'll end up alone like I began..."
