    I applaud the efforts and actions of this and similar organizations.

    Vigilante groups generally appeal to and are led and followed by people who are prone to anger and violence without the propensity to be judicious. For all the arguments we hear about police brutality- and there certainly are plenty of strong cases for making that kind of accusation- leaving justice to be meted out in the hands of what too often becomes mob mentality opens the door to even more egregious and blatant injustices. Vigilantism is probably easier than changing laws but easy is not better. No way am I in favor of vigilante justice.

    Now this may be getting off subject a bit here and if so it might make an provocative thread of its own, but what if we throw into your question, Thirty, the notion of what constitutes vigilante justice. For instance, is sabotage a form of vigilantism or can it be achieved within the law?

    It doesn't appear what happened with this piece of shit was done outside of the law...was it? Not sure how things work in Canada.

    Anyway, when it comes to peds, no sympathy or compassion from me. Just get the motherfuckers out of business and away from their prey. If that makes some uncomfortable or consider me to be part of a "mob mentality", so be it.

    Problem with vigilantes is that they often wrongly accuse people. A LOT of innocent people are accused of child molestation. Even if they are ultimately found innocent, it still usually ruins their lives because even the false label sticks.

    I'm not sure where I am with vigilante justice. The movie Time to Kill had me cheering for the father: I understood his anger.

    I remember the threads where the rancher beat to death the asshole that was molesting his daughter (he walked in on him)... and the father that lumped out the peeping tom. There are certain instincts we have that are very strong: survival, reproduction (all things sexual), and protection.

    Whether right or wrong... it's asking a lot of a human being to look the other way when your child has been harmed.

    I figure that is the price we pay to live in a lawful society. The whole "swift justice" carried put by the citizens thing has been tried many times throughout history, and seriously, those societies definitely do not come off as one any reasonable person today would want to live in. Such societies are dangerous for everyone, and overtly violent.

    i think there is a difference to reacting to an event and carrying out justice...and planning and scheming to catch someone doing something. totally understand a father walking in on a guy molesting his daughter beating the shit out of and/or killing that person. that being said a group in the original post story and groups like Anonymous i think walk a very fine line that personally i have a hard time coming to terms with. On one hand some of those groups have done some good things but in the wrong hands that kind of vigilantism can be very harmful. where do we draw the line between good and evil in vigilantism?

    I'm going by the original post. Whether or not there was an actual teenager on the receiving end, the guy aiming to get her with his gloriously stellar wooing ways thought she was a youngster...believed the viewer of his "art" was not an adult.

    Am I missing something here in that yet another scumbag predator was brought to light and will hopefully no longer have the means to do this again? Not like this guy even needed the particular bait - just happened to be given some intentionally, and he bit.

    Better dealt with this way than him actually fucking (with) a teen, or child.

    Then again, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

    I just finished reading an article about lynchings in the U.S. so that's affected my reaction to the story. The police get things wrong often enough that I don't have a lot of faith in a group of vigilantes. On the other hand, I think ordinary citizens can help in solving and preventing crimes. I have a lot of anger about pedophiles, among the most destructive of criminals.

    I feel the same way. This guy was caught red handed. He sent dick pics to a teenage girl (or thought he did). No sympathy for whatever consequences come from doing that.

    I'm with the others applauding the exposure of the pedo rodent. I was okay with him squirming as he did and I'm okay with what will most certainly be the fallout from such wickedness.

    So... I guess in a roundabout way... I'm okay with vigilante groups. I can't pump my fist and say 'well done' while at the same time discouraging the practice of groups like Creep Catchers.

    I think I'm okay with them to the point of exposure and/or apprehension. With that said... if someone is erroneously exposed for something as egregious as this shmuck... very damaging. Mixed feelings for sure.

    I took a weird pleasure in watching Chris Hanson's show and seeing these sick fucks exposed for what and who they are - and some of them getting their due.

    For fuck's sake, there even was a rabbi who traveled to meet his prey.
