Anything good enough should be able to stand on its own, or is government in the business of propping up private companies with taxpayer dollars?polaris_x said:companies fail all the time ... how is that related to misinformation and influencing domestic and foreign policy ... is the US bombing innocent people around the world to secure space for solar panels and wind farms!?? ...
enough with the subsidies ... if we took everyone's subsidies and tax breaks away - do you know which energy source would make the most sense!? ... it ain't coal, nuclear or oil ...0 -
That's your response? $2.2 billion funneled into a technology that can't compete or sustain? That's $2.2 billion of our tax dollars gone. that's pennies compared to the money we funnel towards fossil fuel plants ... your rationale for railing against renewables is failed companies!?? ... coal companies fail ... the fossil fuel energy spends that kind of money you care so much about spreading lies and disinformation ... and lobbying politicians to ravage environmental laws that are aimed at securing public safety ... the pentagon considers global warming to be the greatest threat to US civilians ... and they just recently were told to scrap their preparedness programs by the politicians who are beholden to this fossil fuel lobby ... and you're railing about a bunch of failed companies ...Degeneratefk said:

Coal companies have failed because of Obama and the EPA strangling them with regulations. Not because the industry couldn't keep up. And certainly not after receiving billions in tax payer money.polaris_x said:

I agree. WTF. ya know, I thought Roe v Wade settled this. That was what, 50 years ago? Many of the sentiment on the wrong side of this argument is from the ultra religious......Pushing their views on everyone else. Personally I don't care if you believe in whatever God you choose, but please don't make me conform to that. As far as social policy goes, abortion is a huge winner. And generally speaking, these same religious zealots are those that want to kick Muslims out of this country...... Where's the tolerance? Where's turning the other cheek? I married a Lebanese woman, who's grandfather was Muslim..... Never once did I hear of any religious BS from her family. In fact, they're some of the most liberal people I know..... More so than the Catholic family I was raised in. The time for tolerance is now. Your faith should have nothing to do with anyone else except yourself. Bet your ass, I'll fight tooth and nail to make sure you can keep that freedom, so you better have the same mindset for those that don't want what you believe in. Ridiculous. Not what this country is about.Degeneratefk said:

Just had this discussion with my father in law. He's one of those who thinks he has the right to tell people who they can marry. He gets angry with me when I tell him he's too smart to be so stupidGtilley8 said:

Eh, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'm entitled to disagree. As are you. Fair enough. But abortion amounts to less than 3% of planned parenthood dollars spent. My mother never had an abortion, but my family was on welfare until I was 4. That being the case, she had to get her healthcare from planned parenthood until we had enough money to pay for it. Probably made it so that we weren't in debt till this day. I just think that before anyone says we need to defund planned parenthood, we might need to look at the benefits it brings to people that want to be contributing members of society. I'd be willing to bet that in the last 10 years, my father has paid as much in taxes as some do in an entire life. In turn, I've become a tax paying member of society. The return on our planned parenthood spending has probably been paid back 20 fold. Helping people is good social policy. See the good, not the controversial bad that is spread all over the news outlets.unsung said:Before all of you get your feeling hurt I said it shouldn't be subsidized, I didn't say it should be banned. scallop fishery collapses in Newfoundland due to oil leak.

where's the good old corporations!? aren't they supposed to fix all leaks ... leaks that rarely happen ... this is what happens when you let public policy be dictated by corporations who's singular mandate is to increase the price of the stock ...0 -
