The Victoria show had a merch booth outside the venue, so stands to reason they'll be doing that all tour. YAAAAYYAAAAAAY! *Kermit arm flail*

I really like the black & white album name maple leaf. Didn't see a Tired As Fuck shirt; the deargord.ca site has one, but I'm not too interested in shirts with hashtags. I get why they're there, but I'm just not into it.

Now to figure out how much to budget ... :worried:

Wicked show last night. Unplucked Gems and Long Time Running were unbelievable. So glad I got to see the first show and I really wish that Gord keeps it up for the entire tour. Loved his suits last night and his great "moves" on stage. Always so funny to watch and enjoy. What an amazing band. Enjoy the rest of the tour everyone.

Awesome show, kind of sad ending with Gord onstage by himself and crowd going bonkers. I said screw it and bought stubhub seats for $50, row 1 in balcony for tuesday night. Varied setlist last night from Victoria so hoping to get most of those songs on Tuesday and it is the "last" show in Vancouver. Can't miss that. Highlight for me was the day for night sequence last night. That was my first album from them I fell in love with.
Hoping for Nautical Disaster on Tuesday

I'm row 1 on the balcony tomorrow too. What section are you in?

Nice. I'm in section 315 (directly across from the stage). I got it for face in the presale ($75 CAD), but the sacrifice is that I'm going alone. I could only score a ticket in the presale by buying a single (but that's okay). Enjoy the show! I think first row of the balcony is actually a pretty sweet place to sit.

Forgot to post last week but the Victoria show was pretty good.

The crowd stood the entire time (which in my experience doesn't happen often for Victoria arena shows). There was the strange energy throughout the show (due to circumstances of tour). The energy was electric and band sounded pretty good. At the end the rest of the band left the stage and Gord stood there and crowd kept cheering and cheering. Brought tears to his eyes.. poor guy... what a trooper, doing a tour under his circumstances. That's hardcore.

Also I noticed, since I was behind stage on Sunday, that Gord was reading lyrics off a teleprompter. Just curious and assuming that has to do with his diagnosis? Or has he done that in the past?

I think most people with a terminal brain tumour are skinnier than they used to be, and I believe I read something a while ago suggesting that Gord would have the lyrics on hand because of his illness, but I don't remember where I read that. Anyway, I guess tonight will be the very last night that The Tragically Hip will play Vancouver or BC. Ever. I'm getting misty eyed just thinking about it. I'm glad I will get to be there.

Did I hear Gord correct right at the end?
    "See you again."
    "See you again, hopefully."

Tough to say which Vancouver shows I liked better. The start tonight was epic. Then songs such as Ahead by a century, yawning or snarling, fiddlers green

However there was at least three songs in the middle I had no idea what they were and if I didnt, I'm sure the masses didn't. Put a damper on momentum. For that reason I can't say tonight was a better set then Sunday.

However the crowd was insane tonight when they left, and especially Gord, before the encore. Loudest I've heard a crowd in over 300 concerts

  • Crowd was fantastic. I agree that there was a portion of the set that was rather dreary.

I too was hoping for Nautical Disaster- it's always eluded me. Escape was a good one for me.

    Good luck, Gord.

A similar thing happened in Victoria. The new album hasn't had enough time to take hold yet, but I really dig it and I enjoyed the new songs live.

yah they did 4 songs from the new album in Victoria, so the crowd was a bit quieter for them. Personally i really liked Tired as Fuck. I've been listening to that song alot since the show.

gord has used a teleprompter for previous tours. nothing new about that. fyi eh
i'd love to know what songs specifically are " rather dreary" LOL
cause those are probably my faves ;)
