Fenway Hotels?

Curious where others are staying. Don't think you'll find anything cheap by Fenway. We (10 of us) are about 2 miles away in Cambridge right by MIT campus.. Had the best price to distance ratio in my opinion.
Anyone have any thoughts on this place?

Hotel Buckminster for night two. It's literally a stones throw from the gate I will exit at Fenway. Booked it the day tickets went on sale. It was about $300. Worth it. I have never stayed at a hotel for a show (friends houses, camping - yes, hotel - no). My wife and I will be kid free for about 20 hours.... I would have paid more.
The first night I'll be driving home after (assuming I get tickets).Hartford 1996, Hartford 1998, Mansfield 1 1998, Mansfield 1 2000, Mansfield 2 2000, Albany 2003, MSG 2 2003, Mansfield 3 2003, Boston 2 2004, Albany 2006, Boston 2 2006, Mansfield 2 2008, Boston 2010, Worcester 1 2013, Worcester 2 20130 -

Quick question for you Boston folk. Taking my wife there for our first trip to Boston and want to obviously stay somewhere decent. My only concern with staying somewhere like the theater district or harbor front is trying to get back to our hotel from Fenway after show. Will it be tough to get a train back? How long of a trip is it? Maybe we should look in the Copley square area? Thanks so much.0

Don't stay in the Theatre District (fka the Combat Zone). It's not nice. I lived there for much of my first stint in Boston and loved it, but I'm a little rough around the edges. As glamorous and high-end as the new hotels there look, I still wouldn't stay there with my wife on a first trip, especially for what they charge.jmug23 said:Quick question for you Boston folk. As for somewhere near the harbor, waiting for a train back from Fenway after an event sucks rocks, but eventually one will come (if they're still running, that is) that you can actually board. And depending on where you stay near the harbor, you should be able to hoof it from Government Center, Haymarket or North Station (if you don't want to change lines, that is).
FWIW, Boston is very tiny, and you can walk from Fenway to the waterfront in about an hour (which is pretty much how long a post-event train fiasco would take you anyway), getting to see a bit of the town and perhaps barhopping or something fun while you're at it. You could always plan your route along a convenient T line or just have Uber at the ready. (One thing I've learned is that Boston has become an Uber town; it is now next to impossible to find a cab to hail here.)
Back Bay/Copley would be your most convenient option--vanilla as that may be; the ease of it might be nice.I SAW PEARL JAM0 -
You will like staying along the waterfront/faneuil hall area or the seaport more than the theater district. I've never had a problem hailing a cab or getting an Uber after a Sox game or concert at Fenway. You need walk away from the Park to find a cab vs standing around and waiting with the masses. You can always hop on the T and get anywhere in the city too.jmug23 said:Quick question for you Boston folk. Agreed. Its no better or worse than any other part of the city at this point. In terms of tourism, its pretty centrally located to everything, and you can catch a red, green, or orange line train. Some great bars/restaurants right in the area too. If you can find a deal there, then I would go for it.Indifference said:

In terms of post-Fenway trains... just grab a beer after the show, and it will die down. Trains run until 1230pm, and the show will end at 1100pm at the latest (the curfew is either 1030pm or 1100pm depending on the permit). Or grab an Uber/Lyft/Fasten (thanks to these guys, its easy and cheap to get around the city).

Again, I personally love it and lived in the neighborhood for quite a few years, but I wouldn't exactly call it romantic. And this fella is traveling to the town with his wife for the first time.SP218311 said:

Me? I think a male hooker in drag trying to hide his erection under a tight silver sequins dress is a hilarious sight that makes life worth living.

Yes that is why they now sell 1 bedroom condos for $1 million in that area. What you describe didn't exist 10 years ago never mind now.dankind said:
