gudas gets a four year deal. Like him a lot as long as he's part of a third dman pairing.

now trade streit and read. hopefully hextall can work his magic again.

big weekend -- 5 picks in the first 3 rounds

stupid move. if you have all these young defensemen coming up why give Gudas a 4-year deal? he is a dime a dozen d-man.

he's only 26. you need someone on the back end who isn't a rookie or second year player. doesn't sound like they overpaid. it's a good signing. not surprising you don't like it.

Gudas is a bridge D- man with a tradeable contract or posible Expansion target.
Slight overpay but not a big deal.
Both Streit and Shultz are on the last legs of their contracts.

I wonder if Hextall really will move up to get a higher pick.
And so you see, I have come to doubt

what are the chances he is here in 4 years and/or productive? he basically sucked for half the year this year. 4 years is dumb for an average to shitty player.

The numbers on the fourth year make it much easier to trade away his contract if need be.

their defense sucked last year so he was playing an expanded role compared to what you ideally have him playing. His possession stats were solid last year. He takes some dumb penalties, but he toned that down towards the end of the year and into the playoffs. I like him as a third pairing guy and veteran presence. He's only 26, so it's not like he's going to be 40 years old at the end of the deal.

Heres the Flyers defense/contracts remaining. Not in bad shape at all, esp if Hextall could find a way to deal one of Schultz, Streit or Del Zotto.
Itwould take a small miracle to get rid of that MacDonald contract however.

    Defensemen (6) $20,650,000 | 28.29% of cap
    Mark Streit D 38 $5,250,000 NTC UFAUFA
    Andrew MacDonald D 29 $5,000,000 $5,000,000 $5,000,000 $5,000,000 UFAUFA
    Michael Del Zotto D 26 $3,875,000 UFAUFA
    Radko Gudas D 26 $3,350,000 $3,350,000 $3,350,000 $3,350,000 UFAUFA
    Nick Schultz D 33 $2,250,000 UFAUFA
    Shayne Gostisbehere D 23 $925,000 RFARFA
    Brandon Manning D 26 RFARFA

I'd love to see all four of them traded. I can't stand del zotto (del zaster). and yeah, no one is taking that macdonald contract any time soon

You have to figure Provorov will most likely make the team out of camp this year. If so, he will be on a cheap ELC.
Manning will most likely be resigned as well. You have to figure that Hextall is gonna try to do something with one of these extra guys, cause I doubt they stuff Macdonald down in the AHL this year again.

    could be a crazy night/weekend...

Flyers Agressively Attempting to Move Up in Draft
I keep hearing the Flyers may be offering a package to Edmonton to get to #4 that may include Sanheim or Morin, as well as Brayden Schenn for the 4th pick and Yakupov.

    Sounds like wishful thinking

18th to 4th is a long way to go. There is a pretty big drop off after about 9 or 10.
Also adding in a recent #1 overall? Greedy?

Montreal reeeeeally wants that #4 pick to select their french guy. They sit at 9. If anyone moves up, its them (and it will cost a lot even from #9)

I want no part of Yakupov, especially dealing Sanheim.
I will be content with the Flyers staying where they are, they should get a decent forward prospect there, even after the talent drop after #5.

kind of agree. they do have a ton of picks though. And maybe they don't want to commit to schenn long term -- believe he's a RFA this offseason.

I don't know much about the draft prospects, but I like what I read about Brian Bellows' kid or Keith Tkachuks' kid. Will prob have to move up to get either of them.

should be interesting for sure. nice thing about the draft is I have a lot more confidence in hextall than I did in holmgren.

I'd love if they could nab Matthew Tkackuk, exactly what the Flyers need.
Keifer Bellows, most have him being picked jut before #18, but he's definitely a prospect I hope lands into their spot.

Edmonton wants/needs a top defenseman. Not a bunch of futures.

Hextall dropped down 4 spots and also got another 2nd rounder in place of their own #79 pick.
    Good job.

a lot of people were pissed that they passed on bellows. From what I read I like the move. Drafted four solid guys in the top 2 rounds.

free agency starts on Friday I believe. Would be nice to sign a winger
