But did he?PJ_Soul said:Wow, so John Mayer is worthy? Maybe someone should let him know that he passed the very strict 10C member requirements for being a legit Pearl Jam fan.

We still don't know how much unopened PJ vinyl he has.
We still dont know how many posters he has laying flat in a portfolio under his bed
We don't know anything about his PJ show sticker collection
And we sure don't know if he has an EV lighter or not
So many unknowns to allow him to be a "legit Pearl Jam fan"0 -

First, we need to get input from the guy who wrote the PJ Superfan article. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
I get this is sarcasm, but it's scary that some people look at it this way.Bentleyspop said:

I saw John Mayer 2 summers ago and the guy can flat out arc weld with that strat.
He can really sing too but his lyrics are hella self absorbed, but not in a good or even in a productive way.
look out ladies

How many different states and/or countries has he seen them live?
Plus how many times has he heard Oceans, Leash, and Dirty Frank live?0 -
I also went to a wedding last week a pretty fancy vineyard. Over the course of two days there, I heard at least 20 John Mayer songs over their in house sound system. Your Body is a Wonderland, Daughters, Half of My Heart, Shadow Days, Who Says, Dreaming With a Broken Heart, Gravity, Why Georgia, Neon, Waiting on the World to Change...you couldn't pick better place to listen to JM than at this vineyard.Post edited by ikiT onBristow 05132010 to Amsterdam 2 061320180

The whole time I was there I was thinking to myself these day-drinking douchebags really like themselves some John Mayer. This vineyard wasn't some small operation either, there had to be 200 people there buying 40 dollar bottles like they were going out of style in addition to the wedding. So classy.Bristow 05132010 to Amsterdam 2 061320180

Don't get me wrong, I like John Mayer, he's got a great singing voice and can shred.
I've seen him live before, and I got the hell up out of my seat and applauded when I saw him bending the shit out of a minute and a half solo that seemed to fall on deaf ears to everyone else who was there...
I just find some of his lyrics to be sorta pretentious and sorta immature.
Gravity is working against me
And gravity wants to bring me down
Oh I'll never know what makes this man
With all the love that his heart can stand
Dream of ways to throw it all away
or
Whatever happened to my, whatever happened to my
Whatever happened to my lunchbox?
When came the day that it got thrown away
And don't you think I should have had some say in that decision?
or
Give your heart then change your mind
You're allowed to do it
'Cause God knows it's been done to you
And somehow you got through it
Alive in the age of worry
Rage in the age of worry
Sing out in the age of worry
And say, "Worry, why should I care?"
That last song ("The Age Of Worry") had the words projected behind JM as he sang it and he was talking about how profound and deep the song was in the intro...I did not stand up and clap for that.Bristow 05132010 to Amsterdam 2 061320180 -

you're going to keep on waiting....waiting on his core songwriting impetus (fialed relationships, self absorption, and general immaturity) to change.
This could take a while.
It sounds pleasant enough, until you start listening to the words.
His covers are great...Bold as Love, Kid A, Message in a Bottle, Free Fallin'..
He's somehow morphed into the new Jerry fucking Garcia for chissakes.Bristow 05132010 to Amsterdam 2 061320180 -

bad news.
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world, just a lie you have to rise above...
I can't wait till my ten year reunion.
I'll stop now as I really do like his music, just not a big fan of his lyrics.Post edited by ikiT onBristow 05132010 to Amsterdam 2 061320180 -
