    My brother in law said the same thing (he hates it too), I think he was expecting 'The Real Thing pt 2' or something. I really liked Sol Invictus, I think it fits in perfectly with the rest of their albums. It flows on from Album Of The Year pretty seamlessly, like they've never been away.

    SG knocked it out of the park with King Animal. I still really enjoy this release, the whole album.

    Big Soundgarden fan...and loved this album...consistent as always, felt alice in chains was great too, but felt black gives way to blue was superior. My brother is big fnm fan and loves sol invictus, yet to give it a listen. But Soundgarden for me....

    The Church -- Further Deeper -- but are they '80s, '90s, or their own category? I don't know, but it's a great album.

    Edit: Someone upthread mentioned Afghan Whigs, so I'll stand by my vote. :-)

    Second edit: Lloyd Cole's "Standards," his latest album, is some of his best work.

    Way better. King of Lambs was skillful but just didn't have *it* that made it an infectious listen. There is a propulsion in the new CD that gives it an anxious, almost on-the-edge-of-your seat energy as you are surrounded by the melodies. Love it

    ... Like Clockwork/QOTSA for me too. Easy choice. I feel iike the poll options are all just putting out relatively paltry stuff for the most part in an effort to either relive the past or earn some sorely needed money.... and you can hear that in the music. But QOTSA have kept completely current and have stayed together the whole time since 1998, just like Pearl Jam has done. These reunion bands just aren't really doing it for me. I do hope that Soundgarden's upcoming album is a lot better than the last one though. I think SG could possible pull something good out. King Animal was really missing something. It's okay, but....

    FWIW, I haven't had a chance to hear the new Radiohead album yet. I haven't really loved much of what they've done since OK Computer TBH. I mean, some of it's okay (some it awful), but nothing has struck me at a level even remotely close to The Bends or OK Computer. They kind of went a bit too techno for me in a lot of their songs/albums. I do ALWAYS have high hopes each time they release an album though. Really anxious to give the new one a listen.
