I think some people just like to complain. Incredible setlist, I'd take that in Philly right now.bchagnon said:I'm honestly not sure how one can complain about the set. They can't all be the best, and last night was exceedingly more than adequate. Great energy from the band, great energy from the crowd. To do what they do day in, day out, it's awesome to see that they love doing it and they don't treat it like a routine, they treat it like a priveledge. Viva la Pearl Jam!

Thanks Karen!KarenK said:Great show! The sound had a lot of echo from where I was sitting. I was hoping for closer seats. Very short person, but at least the big screens were there to view. Then after seeing Ed and Mike came down into the crowd, I was kicking myself for not trying to pit tickets. PJ put on one hell of a show.

I like the set list from this Tampa show. It's too bad I no longer live in Tampa because I would have liked to hear these songs!
I thought that pj had a very full arena for a Tampa show too. Often that arena is half empty!&&&&&&&&&&&&&&0 -
From the Periscope feed it looked like Little Wing was completely Mike's call. Eddie appeared to be done but then he looked over at Mike who grabbed a guitar so Eddie said what the fuck and went back to the mic.0

I have to add this... I just went to the Maiden show in Toronto a few weeks back, and just like PJ they have fans travelling in from all over the place, seeing multiple shows, a massive loyal fanbase. But what they get is the exact same set every night from tour start until tours end. After watching the opening night of the tour on youtube, I knew exactly what song they would open with and the order of songs all the way until the encore.
I love the anticipation of the upcoming PJ shows and not knowing what the hell is going to happen. The set could have a full album, it could open with alive, for fucks sake they could open with bugs! The point is there is absolutely no need to complain about what they did or didn't play at your show. Your shows setlist was crafted by the band on the day of the show, and you know it won't be what the last nights or last weeks set looked like at all. So lucky to be able to do Ottawa & Toronto this tour, can't wait.0 -

Here's a question for the folks in Tampa last night...
How did Pendulum work as an opener for the encore set??
I've only heard it as a show opener...

Pendulum was great. I heard it in Brooklyn as opener and while it is a great way to open the show I didn't like that they opened with it for so many shows since it became predictable. I think they are sending a loud and clear message that this 2016 tour is going to be different which is exciting. From fast openers, playing WMA in full, playing pendulum as a non-opener, not playing yellow Ledbetter, coming out on stage with the lights up, etc.derbydave said:Here's a question for the folks in Tampa last night...

I loved MFS. Moonlight was pretty cool but most people didn't know what it was. I've now gotten it 2 of the 3 times played.Jammalambo said:

Pearl Jam has a huge problem and that's why there will always be complaining about setlists.
They have too many good songs. Can't fix that.Oh dear dad
Can you see me now
I am myself
Like you somehow
I'll ride the wave
Where it takes me
I'll hold the pain

Very well chosen list. Wish I was there.0

I have a visceral love for some songs that are considered 'garbage' from many folks here (these two mentioned songs, and Cropduster, You Are, Help Help, Sleight of Hand, Evacuation, and so on..) It's not because they're rare, or because of their time signatures (In the Moonlight main riff is in 11/8 for fuck's sake), but just because they're pure brilliance.. if you don't get it, well I'm sorry for you (I'm lookin at you mcgruff.. eheheh)
oh, and when I was reading this setlist earlier today, I was actually thinking this was one hell of a setlist.. sometimes I criticize PJ for more than one reason, but the way they play and choose a setlist night after night has never been one of them. If you don't think this show (at least on paper) is a true gem, you either have been to too many shows, or you're not a fan of their music, simply put.Post edited by Jammalambo on0 -

Also, if I ever heard You Are live, I don't even know what I'd do.0 -
The wave from Ft Lauderdale continues. I brought the wifey to Tampa (it was our 18th year together) and as some of you may know, EV played Patriot in honor of our boy, so she wanted to thank the band for doing that for us Friday night. It was a bittersweet night, as today is 1 month since his passing.
We scored some high row side section seats on the release yesterday, we made a sign that read "Tylers Mom Thanks You For -->" which pointed to my sign asking for Patriot.
As Betterman was playing, she said she just felt an urge to go down low enough so that the band could see her sign as they came off stage, and she went down to bottom of the stairs to the front row. Not realizing the VIP contingency was sitting in the first few seats of the first row, she was asked by a band members wife (that shall remain nameless for now) what the sign was for, and I explained it to her. She began to well up, gave wife a big hug and asked if we were going to the Jax show, I said yes, and she asked if we had good seats. I said I had 10C GA's, but wifey probably shouldn't be in the pit with her neck brace(long story, but she didn't like the news we got that dreadful early morning, and hit the deck). She responded by asking for my info and we tore off a piece of the sign, I gave her my name/number and she handed it to security, and said let me take care of that for you. So, I dunno what I'll have waiting for me at will call, but I still can't believe it. Waiting in the beer line, outside the venue, and in our section a bunch of people recognized us, and wanted to just say thanks for our boy's service and shake my hand/give the wifey a hug.
A good friend of mine said we're almost like celebrities now (at least within the PJ Fanbase). I never expected all of this, just did what I thought would be a cool way to honor my son, by requesting a song, and all this other craziness is happening.
During the show, the couple next to us recognized my shirt (it has the names of both boys killed in the accident), and the girl knew my boy as he used to go the place she works with his friends in Cocoa Beach, how in the hell you end up next someone who recognizes you from home in a place with ~18,000 people is beyond me.
Anwyay we're beyond grateful for all the love and support we've been shown, and we'll be sure to let you know how Jax goes tomorrow night.
Thanks again, and hopefully we see some more of you looking to stop by and say hi. If I remember tomorrow, I may post where we're tailgating at to let ya'll know.9/22-23/1998 8/9-10,12/2000 4/11-13/2003 10/8/2004 6/11-12,28,30/2008 8/12/2009 9/3-4/2011 10/11-12/2013

We shall be angry together while drinking beers one day before a pj show!!! I saw my father s son in St. Louis And it sucked the energy out of the crowd. And like I said in another thread, 95% of the audience has zero clue as to what in the moonlight is.Jammalambo said:

theyre really trying to mix it up. Were in for another surprise in jax...i can still name dozens of songs and endless of dream combos that would make you go bonkers. Possible songs for jax:
Fast opener again? Once?
Garden, rats, leash, breath, not for you
You are...to open a set?
Inside job, gone
Insignificane, off the girl?????
Dude every show is going to be crazy
