The Pearl Jam Community Top 100 Metal Albums

I'd like to TRY to have a little fun with this idea I got from another music forum.

1) One album per post

2) A PJC member can only post an album every 10 picks (or every 5 if it grows stagnant)

3) Please cut and paste as you post

4) Please give a brief reason beneath your pick as to why you're choosing that particular album. That way it'll be a little more than just a huge list thread.

    1. Black Sabbath.......Black Sabbath

Might as well get some of the obvious choices out of the way. Why not begin the list with one of the very first metal albums. You could probably argue it's just another hard rock album now but to me this one is where it all started. Let's see em.

Damn, you chose my next choice and I would've chosen it over MOP as well with the fierce Shredding by Cliff Burton. So many different styles in the riffs....as if they were trying to find themselves, which then led to them hitting their stride with MOP.

Queensryche: Operation: Mindcrime - a classic concept album with a cool story. Clearly influenced by Pink Floyd's The Wall it showed why Queensryche were considered "thinking mans' metal". Lots of rock, prog and metal influences from a revered Seattle band.

    Gotta keep this list growing.
    7. Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power
Groove-metal at its finest and most brutal moment and defined the genre back in teh day. I've been listening to Pantera a lot lately.

Guns n' Roses- Appetite for Destruction

Possible one of the best debut albums ever. Although i kinda lost interest in them after Use or Illusion albums, but this one still kicks ass!

would have gone with either Metallica or Pantera but both of them were picked (sorry what are the rules with bands?) One every 10 picks or whatever you want?

    12. Megadeth......Rust In Peace
Very hard for me to go any further without showing just a little respect to Megadeth and the album RIP. After several albums Dave seemed to have made his Master of Puppets. one can feel him screaming for vengeance after being fired from Metallica. Holy Wars kicks this sucker off, with Hanger 18s shredding....then Five Magics would've made a great instrumental but throw in lyrics it takes the song to another place, Lucretia rules then the classic Tornado Of Souls which probably has one of the best guitar solos out there.

I know this was to be brief but had to speak of what seemed to be such anger coming from Dave .

Voivod create a brilliant work of artistic, forward-thinking metal on their 4th album, incorporating science fiction and philosophy along with great drumming and artwork by Michel "Away" Langevin and creative guitar work by the late great Denis "Piggy" d'Amour.

It could be argued that this album is more of the hard rock genre but it is quite heavy in its crunch groove. Certainly it's of the top 10 greatest album debuts ever......I think we had a thread on here about that subject. If not somebody should start one.
