Chances on getting a refund from the Ten Club?

We got tickets for the Tampa show and we were going to travel down from Cleveland and make a long weekend out of it. However, my wife's pregnant and the Zika virus thing is still happening in Florida so there's no way we're going anywhere near there with her. I know I can't sell the tickets, I sent an email to the tenclub, but I'm wondering if anyone out there knows from personal experience, any chance we'll get a refund?

Hoping to buy tix for maybe Lexington instead.

  • Not sure. It's a shame they won't let you transfer them to another 10c member. I tried for Tampa and got shutout, situations like this would benefit everyone if you were able to transfer.

There would be no way to monitor tickets being traded and transferred at a higher than face value cost. There would be under the table deals of extra posters and money and vinyl all over the place.

Their policy is pretty strong and clear and upfront, no refunds, exchanges, or returns. "Don't put in for shows that you will not be able to attend."

Zika virus is not "happening" in FL - every individual in FL who contracted ZIka virus did so while traveling outside the continental US, including the pregnant women. If your goal is to travel to the Tampa show and back you and, more importantly, your wife are perfectly fine to do so with no worry.

To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."

This. It is acquired through the bite of an infected mosquito. Has only been reported in travelers RETURNING to the US. Unless something changes between now and the Tampa show you and your wife are at no risk by going to florida.

The people who say 0% chance are ignorant.
You'd be surprised what you can get if you just ask, and I speak from experience.
    Good luck.

The only Zika infected people are those who traveled abroad. It's not in Florida yet. The only chance she'll have of getting it is if she hooks up with someone infected...then I'd say you'd have bigger issues to deal with then losing out on the ticket cost. Ha!

No offense to anyone here. But don't take advice about this from people here. Go with your gut and skip the show. There will always be another show. Even if you have to eat the tickets.

You're not likely to get bit by a mosquito walking from your car to the arena (Or walking anywhere around Channelside I'd reckon). Stay out of inland parks. If you're really concerned, drop $20 on some permethrin and treat your clothing the week before, and use a mild repellant on exposed skin.

Not sure. It's a shame they won't let you transfer them to another 10c member. I tried for Tampa and got shutout, situations like this would benefit everyone if you were able to transfer.

10c used to allow you to transfer tickets to another 10c member. It seemed to be widely abused. 10c shut it down. It definitely sucks for people with a legit excuse but I think shutting down the abuse is worth that price.

    1) If you could transfer tickets, you could get all your friends/family to get memberships. Then could score tickets using the #1 picks and then transfer the tickets to you.

    2) Trading between different legs of a tour. One example would be that you live somewhere like New York. You enter draws for both shows, but only get tickets to one of them. There's separate draws for Boston/Chicago so you enter those draws and get a pair for a show in Chicago. You have no intention of going to Chicago. You then trade the Chicago tickets for the New York show you didn't acquire tickets too. It pretty much circumvents the preference system.

To me it seems like the same people that organize an official GA line are the same kind of people that were abusing the 10c's willingness to transfer tickets to another member. While it sucks to have to eat a pair of tickets, I think it's better than opening the system up for abuse.

I also don't think the 10c would offer refunds on tickets. For every person with a legit reason, they'd probably get 10 lying about the legit reason. It ends up being a giant make work project for them.

You people poking fun - do you have kids? Do you remember the first time you found out you were pregnant and did or didn't do things because you wanted to keep your lady and growing baby safe, however rational or irrational that might be? Show a little support why don't you?!

OP, 10c might understand your concern. Back in 09' I was granted a ticket transfer for an LA show I wasn't going to make. I know they say 'no transfers' but you have nothing to lose by asking. Good luck!

I once contacted 10c because I couldn't go to a EV show. They basically said there was nothing they could do so I asked them if they could give them away to someone rather than having the seats go to waste and they said they could do that. Not sure if that's still the case or if it was a one-off. Won't get your money back but it would make someone's day.

So it's funny after I told them to give my tickets away I found out the next day I COULD go. Emailed them back and they said it wasn't a problem and that they were still in my name.
