Fenway Ticket Fiasco... and my refund?

wnh1977wnh1977 Iowa Posts: 650
Hello... I was one of the lucky, and then unlucky, ones that scored Fenway tickets a day before the official on sale date due to the tickets.com screw-up... only to have those orders cancelled. Well, one of my orders has been refunded... but the other hasn't. Anybody else having this issue? I don't believe I'll be getting the tickets, but what are your thoughts? A refund shouldn't take 2 weeks, right?

Thoughts?

Hope you guys get lucky and get the tickets, just keep quiet. ;)

I was lucky and then unlucky, got my refund last week, not a full refund though as I got transaction charges for buying in a different currency. Cost me £10, about $14.50 for nothing.

please, no one start calling and raising any flags

your CC will always back you up if you dont get the goods/services you purchased. they will credit you and they will chase down the redsox.

Per this thread, Sox have claimed multiple ticket orders "all cancelled" on their end, so I'd contact my CC company.

here is what i suggest. wait until they actually send the tickets out. see if you get them or not. if you dont, then contact your CC company and dispute the charges. you didnt get the goods you were charged for, this is a slam dunk. calling ahead of time may alert them to the problem.

its all in the hands of the computers at this point, alerting some nitwit will only cause them to look into it. from this point the computer will spit out the tickets and mail them out. if they are in the computer as valid they will get shipped out to you

I agree with zman. This is the approach that I'm taking. I have a "legitimate" pair of tickets that I ordered that should be arriving soon. If those arrive and my "day before on sale" tickets don't arrive, I'm going to be making some noise to get my refund. I think it's worth waiting this out, as others have suggested, to see if they make a mistake and send me the tickets. Actually, that would be their second mistake... they're the morons who put them on sale a day early. Or would it be their third mistake? Mistake #2 would be taking them away from us after we purchased them :)

    also, call tickets.com automated system

i called 800.352.0212, press 1 to get an email copy of my order, then it has you enter in your phone number, then it says "if you want a copy of the order placed on feb 11th, press 1", then there is also another one that says the same thing "if you want a copy of the order placed on feb 11th, press 2".. so i do the whole process twice, pressing 1 the first time and 2 the second time. only one email comes through, so that makes me believe that one order is still valid somehow, and thats why it didnt get refunded. so maybe in their system its jacked up and i will still get tickets, hence why im apprehensive bout calling them to raise any flags or for them to look into my account.

their computer system still sends me a full conformation email with the tickets listed in it.

try this out and see if you get similar results

i believe all ticket confirmations, presale/fake thursday sale/actual sale on friday all came from tickets.com. unless someone has conflicting information

Tickets.com said that the Red Sox box office handled all tickets and emails for the event. Tickets.com was essentially just the website they used to handle the sale.

I called the number zman provided and went through the step to have a confirmation e-mail of my order sent... it worked! I made 4 orders (2 on two separate credit cards). 3 of these were refunded. 1 was not... and the credit card that was not refunded is the one used in the confirmation they just resent! Hmm... interesting.

yes, very interesting. this is why i think calling is a bad idea. dont alert them to the problem like the bozo who called mid sale to alert them to it

if its in the computer and still coming back as valid, and hasnt been refunded, theres a good chance they will just get printed and mailed out, all automagically

and if not, like i said your CC company is on your side if you dont receive the goods and services you paid for

Don't be nervous if they sold the same seats both days and you've got to duke it out with the legitimate purchaser when the show starts.

That wouldn't be my problem... the folks at Fenway can find a resolution. If in August they have a 6-month old charge on my credit card that wasn't removed and they send me a pair of valid tickets in the mail, I think I'm good to go. But yes, I wouldn't put it by this bunch to print duplicates!

I'm kind of torn on the issue. It's a nice thought to think the tickets are still coming, but these people have no problem screwing you over. I won't say anything this week, but I am sure not going to wait until August to clear up a 420 dollar credit card charge.

Weston - I would suggest this (if I may be so bold) :) If people on the board start talking about receiving their tickets and two more weeks go by without you seeing yours, I would think it'd be a good idea to inquire about your credit card charge. Yes, I will not wait until August to seek out my refund... but I think this will be resolved long before then. As zman mentioned, I think they'll be sent out fairly soon. My initial Wrigley confirmation said "All tickets will be mailed starting March 1st." Not sure if that's going to hold true or not. Somebody could probably call and ask about ticket mailings without getting into the specifics of your order.

I would spend the next five months worrying about exactly this scenario. Maybe not duking it out exactly but still.

Ugh, man that'll be some shit if multiple order people get tickets and the people that weren't greedy and just ordered a pair get nothing. What a clusterfuck.
