Anyone get the feeling this is a little too soap opera-y? To me it gives off the vibe of an 80's era show like Dynasty or Dallas but with a more modern, edgy twist.

Not liking it as much as I thought I would.

I'm enjoying it from a pure entertainment standpoint but sometimes logic gets in the way.

For example, how is a bigwig in the world of law and justice on his hands and knees in a sex club in front of everyone else?

Fun watch and I so dig Lewis & Giamatti but guessing it probably won't make it past a second season.

Not to mention the fact that he was in bumfuck, Iowa wasn't he? How do you just find this place on the internet and then get allowed in ten minutes later?
Also not buying a grown adult woman "second act"-ing a Broadway show cuz she was bored at work. She's loaded, could've bought a ticket and seen the whole thing.

I will keep watching though, because it's still entertaining

^Yep. Everything you guys mentioned. I also hate this little love triangle that's forming in the DA's office. And now the one chick offered to be her bosses gaurantor (on her way up the ladder to becoming president)? Just reeks more soap opera than solid drama to me.

I don't even care so much to remember the character's names other than the leads and their wives.

    Great acting!

Writing needs help. Hard to believe that Andrew Ross Sorkin lets some of this nonsense fly.

There's no way that Paul Giamatti's character would need Investing 101 shit such as "short squeezes" explained to him.

Well this week's episode was better than the last few. Pretty intense.

Yeah, I liked it as well. Even got my guy into it - he's been buying/selling stocks lately but we're not even close to fuck-you money. Plus he digs the Metallica injections.

Definitely going to stick with this one.

    (the show, too)

couldn't see the lawyer as anything but the killer in True Detective Season 1 though. every time he was on screen that is what i thought about. he plays a better killer than lawyer.

i like this show but agree that there is a lot of soap opera type stuff on it. i mean his office is investigating the company and guy his wife works for? that is just so far fetched. Giamatti is great though.

Ha. I forgot about him in True Detective. He'll always be George Remus from Boardwalk Empire to me.

Did you make it through the end of True Detective season 2? I gave up about halfway through.

Jeeza louisa, while his character is a bit confusing (do you REALLY need a guarantor - from a coworker, yet?), I find him pretty damn cute. And yet I'm conflicted, as he resembles a young (albeit better-looking) Ted Cruz to me.

Anyway, nice to have a weekly fairly absorbing watch with some great scenes, acting and writing.

I never watched Boardwalk Empire. I did make it through True Detective II. Was ok at best. I've pretty much given up on Vinyl already. I will continue with Billions and see where it goes.
