    Truly.

I love this band. But if I didn't, I think I'd tip my hat in respect.

They've made my years much better.

I love them too. I just wish Dave would go to the "Eddie Vedder School of Set List Creation" for some refresher training...

Hopefully that's one thing Dave will do with his year off DMB touring. Has Ed put out his class schedule for 2017 yet? :)

One thing you will notice as well, Ed now creates set lists very similar to how Bruce has done them for a long time. There are 6 songs or so (the biggest) and 4 of them always make the set. 2 are played at every show (Alive and Porch for example) and for Bruce he almost always plays Thunder Road and Born to Run. And then you intersperse mid popular songs with gems and also change the pace of the show throughout. That way you create an ebb and flow and you keep the casual fan engaged with the hits, while giving the die hards a feeling they saw something special. I really think Ed learned from Bruce in this regards. Dave does not do a good job of changing the pace of the show and his song choice can be..questionable at time.
  • I would agree that sometimes they have some odd selections and sometimes they keep a good man down for too long... but I still love them and will take that before waiting every five years to see them.

They're gold medalists with regards to access.

Interesting, but is that really a change for Ed? Hasn't that always been the case, like that you're always going to either get Evenflow or Jeremy, and you're usually going to get Alive? Same with closers, there are a handful of songs that rotate for all the finales... seems like what they've done for ages. What would be an example of a change that you see?

First, I do think that Ed has always done well with set lists. But remember for years, they didn't play Alive at all. Now it's a staple and I think that's great for the casual fan. Second change is purely the length. They weren't doing 3 hour shows for at least half their career. Bruce has been known for the marathon sessions for a long time. I may be completely off base in saying that Ed is influenced by Bruce, but I see the correlation and it's unique to just a select few bands. And we know the love he has for Bruce and that he has shown up at shows more than a few times and vice versa.

it wasn't prominent in the email announcement, but there was also the note that they will take 2017 off from touring.

They said that a few years back too, and then did the few Caravan shows instead. I'll believe it when I see another band booked for Labor Day.
it didn't say they wouldn't do any shows, just that they wouldn't tour. so yes, a caravan or a few one-offs are certainly possibilities. the point is they are not touring in 2017.

I've never gotten to see Dave & Tim before, so hoping I get to do so in 2017 when it's a quieter year for the band.

Is this a real rumor or random conjecture from a board? C'ville is the best place to see them and selfishly, only an hour from me.

I'll need to search for tickets, but looks like I'll be hitting SPAC for the first time ever! :)

hey guys I used to be a huuuuge dmb back in the day (saw 10+ shows) but kind of lost interest. I'm pumped to be seeing him this summer at holmdel, nj.
of all the live traxs shows which are your top three recommendations? Thanks so much.

Does it have to be livetrax? I still really like Weekend on the Rocks and the Gorge shows from 02, if you don't have those. For livetrax, my preferences from old days and new include Hampton from 96 and Cleveland from '13.

it definitely doesn't have to be from livetrax. What 's like the boston 3/soldier field of the dmb world?
