If it helps anyone: I reserved a room at the Sheraton downtown -- $150 after taxes. Looks like it's a 15-20 minute walk to the venue. Might be cheaper if you pick a nonrefundable rate.

That's not bad. Not doing the non-refundable. But I did book a townhouse through Airbnb supposedly close to downtown. Can cancel it too.

  • I just booked the Columbia Marriott through Priceline for $152 after taxes. Not sure how far it is from the arena, but it looks like they have five rooms left. I got the r price by filtering for a 3.5 star hotel and entering $80. They said they'd give it to me for 126.

Honestly it's not even worth waiting in line. You would have to be there at 7am

Yikes. So there's no chance of being close to the stage if i dont get there that early?
Personally, If its anything like back in 08. No need to get there early. The 10c members (southern hospitality) were very generous and everyone got up front at some point.
That's good to hear. Well, where's the pre-party then? lol

We are pushing for Thirsty Fellows.
You know, I've lived in Columbia for going on 15 years now and have never tried that place. Sad thing is that it's about 3 blocks from where I work lol.
  • Been a few years and was on a grad school budget.
    Doc's had the best BBQ.
The Oyster Bar! Sit at the back bar, hole in the wall place.
Flying Saucer(have a few plates there, last one has the lyrics to Present Tense on it) for quick bar food and beer selection.
Thirsty Fellow JUST opened when I was leaving but was pretty nice.
Uncle Festers for a 3am beer
Mr. Friendly's if going pricey and want some good southern food.

I don't know what # I am, but I'll be there with my cousin who is a local. I'm pretty excited to get to SC for a few days as I've only ever driven through.

Anyone else find this odd. Colonial Life Arena only sold a 1/4 of the tickets today. The black X shows the locations not sold. The blue dots are what is left.

Do they release them in batches later? It looks like Raleigh and Lexington have something similar going on. The Stubhub maps for those seating charts have a similar look. (I realize that might not be the most reliable source but they have similar sections behind the stage with zero tix available.)

Yea, last time in Columbia they didn't release those seats either. They put up a huge curtain.

Ahh, I forgot about that. I seem to remember the tickets selling slowly last time around (at least, compared to other places). I had some friends from work who grabbed tickets in the upper sections well after the on-sale date. That's why I was kind of surprised to see them come back. Not complaining though.

I'll be at this show (my 152nd!), and was wondering if anyone is driving from Columbia to New Orleans for JazzFest? My usual travel partners are not making that trek, and I haven't found any cheap flights, so I'd like to hitch a ride and help out with gas, etc. Thanks!
