On their last UK tour radiohead did ticketless entry. You had your credit card swiped on entry to the venue. You and your party entered together. Seemed like it was pretty difficult to scalp those tickets. Obviously there are issues around expired cards etc if you're buying well in advance but it did work. Also, the nine inch nails method is great.

expired card will scan properly at the door... as long as it didn't get cut up

Yes, because scalpers won't stand in line. How do you think scalpers got tickets pre-internet?

Well, after reading the story of the bot that bought over 1000 U2 tickets in 3 minutes...yeah I do think this might help.
    60 seconds... 1000+ U2 @ MSG tix in 60 seconds

The NIN method works very well.

    what's the NIN method/system?

I can understand the Foos metod, not a huge fan of it though. Don't mind standing in line to get tix but what about the people that actually have to go to work or can't make it in person cause of personal issues or something? Also I did that once for a Foos show, the MTV $2 concert at the Electric Factory in philly in '02. Line was insane and we didn't even move and didn't get tix. same with the White Stripes in '07 (although i did get a ticket to that show when i called while standing in line)

orrrrrr... just call? theres always that
that was not an option in what i wrote ....

In the past, Radiohead really made their fans jump thru hoops for presale tickets. For several U.S. tours, they wouldn't announce the start-time of the pre-sale, so you had to stay up all night hitting F5 in order to not miss-out. The presales were handled by a UK company, so they sometimes started them at 10am UK time, which translates to 5am NY time and 2am L.A. time.

Fair enough. I can see how that would be an issue in the states for a presale. What I thought was great about it though was that it was card swipes for all tickets including those sold by ticketmaster so it made them very difficult to resell. As a result tickets were available for a good time after they went on sale.
