agreed x100. was happy to stand in line with fans, and buy 4 tickets. While I am sure there were folks paid to purchase tickets for scalpers, it gave everyone fan a guaranteed ticket, provided they were willing to show up and stand in line for an hour or two.37 PJ Shows, 3 EV Shows, 1134 Total Songs, 24 Different Openers, 9 Different Closers, 252 Unique Songs (never enough)0

Yes, because scalpers won't stand in line. How do you think scalpers got tickets pre-internet?6/29/98 Chicago-United Center

I actually thought it was very shitty.
In Toronto, they said anyone who was in line by 11 was guaranteed tickets. THe first x amount of people got floors. But there were lots of people there with friends and they were all buying the 4 ticket limit. There were also people buying floors at 10 (before 11) and going to the back of the line and getting more tickets. By people I mean greasy, longhaired scalpers. I think it ate up a very large portion of the tickets for the public.
I've always believed Nine Inch Nails is doing it right. Name on the order is actually printed on the tickets. You must enter the venue with ID and all members of your party must enter with you. Very little opportunity to scalp tickets that way.0 -
LOL when I lined in Calgary (4 hours) for Foo Fighters tickets I was about 50th in line then they drew a number which put me right to the back of the line and I got shut out of tickets . So I am fine with the lottery, then Ticketmaster. IMOWalkin on a slippery sidewalk listening to P.J0

every post you comment on is negative haha. atleast it pretty much promises people a chance at tickets. go old school. line up for tickets. it gets rid of the bots. there will always be scalpers but thats not the real issue. the real issue is the computers buying thousands at a time... when you buy in person there is a limit....RP112579 said:Yes, because scalpers won't stand in line. Nobody can walk up to a counter and buy thousands of tickets on 100s of credit cards, friendo.RP112579 said:Yes, because scalpers won't stand in line. How do you think scalpers got tickets pre-internet?
"Well, I think this band is incapable of sucking."
-my dad after hearing Not for You for the first time on SNL .0 -
that is not the solution... what about people from other countries ? you only thinking it is a fair deal because you live in the city where the concert is ,but think about this : PJs last show EVER and you can only buy if you show up at the counter oh did i mention the concert being held in Poland ...you would go bananasBurn my eyes and try to blind me
Bury me so they won't find me

i can't understand why reselling at over face is not illegal... if the sites like stubhub and ticketgo were illegal and you would get fined big time and the tickets got back in sale( the band wouldn't suffer from empty seats ) i think you would have a better chance, but as long it is legal it will always be a problem.Burn my eyes and try to blind me

No! I don't want to travel in order to get tickets. A terrible idea for all fans who don't live in or near a major market.0

This might be the way to go. There's always gonna be a loophole though.Dead Man Walking said:I've always believed Nine Inch Nails is doing it right. The concept is great, however Toronto was royally screwed over. Hundreds of people that arrived before the 9:30 deadline weren't even considered when they cut the line with the draw. Out of the (lets say) 2000 people that should have been in the line up lottery, only 1500 were given a raffle ticket and had a chance to move up the line.1998: Barrie 2000: Toronto 2005: Kitchener, London, Hamilton, Toronto 2006: Toronto 1&2, Paris, Milan, Torino, Pistoia 2009: Calgary, Vancouver 2011: Canada 2013: London, Wrigley, Philly 1&2 2014: St. Louis, ACL 1, Detroit 2016: Lexington, Quebec, Ottawa, Toronto 1&2, Fenway 1&2, Wrigley 1&2 2017: EV - Louisville 2018: London 1&2, Milan, Padova, Rome, Prague, Krakow, Berlin, Wrigley 1&2, Fenway 1&2 2020: Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton 2021: London 1&2 2022: Hamilton, Toronto 2023: Chicago 1&2, Noblesville 2024: Seattle 1&2, Noblesville, Wrigley 1&20

It has one major drawback. It sucks for anyone not living in a city the band plays in. IE for me I live on Vancouver Island. PJ doesn't play here. Vancouver and Seattle are the closest cities to me that I can see PJ play at (I have to travel for every show). Vancouver is a total of around 3.5 hours for car/ferry/bus/skytrain and Seattle is about 5 hours for driving/ferry/driving. I would loathe having to take the day off work, pay all those fees, just to go over to the mainland to buy tickets.dtr0624 said:that was the best method ive seen in a long. keep ticket master but do everything in person.. thats the only way to do this right
On the other hand Vancouver only has 2 million + people. My whole province only has 4.7 million people. It's not horribly hard getting tickets for Vancouver. I get jealous of the East because PJ plays there more often. They play the NorthWest less, but Seattle's the only shows out here insanely hard to get tickets too... If they play anywhere else like Portland, Boise, Spokane, Calgary, Edmonton etc... it's not superhard to get tickets.
So what's better. Living somewhere where PJ plays more often or living somewhere it's easier to get tickets?0 -
On their last UK tour radiohead did ticketless entry. You had your credit card swiped on entry to the venue. You and your party entered together. Seemed like it was pretty difficult to scalp those tickets. Obviously there are issues around expired cards etc if you're buying well in advance but it did work. Also, the nine inch nails method is great.0

In the past, Radiohead really made their fans jump thru hoops for presale tickets. For several U.S. tours, they wouldn't announce the start-time of the pre-sale, so you had to stay up all night hitting F5 in order to not miss-out. The presales were handled by a UK company, so they sometimes started them at 10am UK time, which translates to 5am NY time and 2am L.A. time.rw160510 said:On their last UK tour radiohead did ticketless entry.
