Danny Newcomb & The Sugarmakers In-Store Friday!
Guitarist & vocalist Danny Newcomb is no stranger to those who follow Northwest music. In 1982, he and Mike McCready, Chris Friel, and Rick Friel formed Shadow, who put the pedal to the metal in Seattle before trying to make a go of it in L.A. When that didn't work out, Danny came back and formed Goodness with Carrie Akre, who released two powerful full-lengths on major labels before Danny & Carrie joined up with the other former members of Shadow (McCready - who was by then a member of Pearl Jam - and the Friel brothers) to form The Rockfords. In Danny's own words, " I got a taste of doing what I wanted, but not how I wanted."
That time is now. Danny Newcomb & The Sugarmakers' debut release, Masterwish, is out now, and it is a fantastic first effort, chock-full of brilliant catchy power pop. We are happy to welcome Danny & The Sugarmakers - Rick Friel, Eric Eagle, Fiia McGann and Ryan Burns - to Easy Street this Friday at 8pm to mark the release of their new 7" single, "One Wish," which is the first record on Mike McCready's new label Hockey Talkter! We will have a very limited number of the singles for sale the night of the event. Oh, and did you know that Mike plays on the b-side, "Sundays"? We hear that song might be on the set list.... Free and all-ages! Hope to see you there!
