i caught most of the bands i wanted to see. Missed most of Benjamin Booker though cause i was on the phone. Father John Misty was interesting. Some of the songs I was just not feeling and made me want to go to bed, but some of his stuff was decent. I liked the last song he played a lot and also the cover he did when he brought that woman on stage and serenade her with teddy bears, balloons and those women wearing barely anything. Royal Blood and Run The Jewels were the best i thought.8/28/98- Camden, NJ

Lot of good sets live in person. Favorites for me were: Royal Blood, Florence + The Machine, AC/DC, Jack White, Run The Jewels, Alabama Shakes, Tame Impala, War on Drugs, Benjamin Booker, Alt-J, Jenny Lewis, and St. Vincent.
Looking forward to catching the weekend 2 action in the comfort of my brother's home on AXS TV.0 -
Kasedoug you saw many of the bands I'd have wanted to see. Over on the Coachella msg board, St. Vincent was one of the only acts that just about everyone had in their top 5 from Weekend 1. I watched some of Tame Impala's set online... gotta say I don't get it, but glad you (and so many others) enjoyed it!
What's Jenny Lewis playing now? I've seen her years ago, she was really good. And I thought Jack White's set was fantastic!0 -
I had seen parts of Tame Impala's sets at other festivals but I think playing before AC/DC on the main stage, to a big crowd, they really stepped up to the moment and delivered. Not super familiar with St. Vincent but it was a really good set. The lighting and production was great.
Jenny Lewis is playing behind a new solo album but she brought out Blake Sennett to play some Rilo Kiley stuff and also the Haim sisters to play a brand new song.
Of the sets mentioned above, I watched them all from start to finish expect for Run the Jewels and Benjamin Booker. RTJ was absolutely raucous. I was really impressed for a rap set. Really wanted to get a good spot for alt-J and started to make my way out of RTJ's crowd but stopped dead in my tracks when they brought out Zack de la Rocha for his guest spot on "Close Your Eyes..." Caught the last part of Benjamin Booker's set and thought he was great. Wish I hadn't stopped at Bad Religion after Royal Blood. I've seen BR plenty and now wish I would have seen more of Booker.
Jack White was definitely fired up and played a good set. I saw his set at Bonnaroo last summer so that one's tough to top for me, but I was glad to see him play "That Black Bat Licorice" and "Would You Fight For My Love?" which he didn't play at the Fonda or 'Roo last summer. Wish I could sneak back out there on Saturday night to catch his set again.0 -

Ha. Saw somebody post this the other day. First off, the dates are wrong for this year. Also, I love that Radiohead was bumped down to the 2nd line after being a top billed headliner twice before. Coldplay have headlined before as well and Jack White sure took a dive to the 3rd line.
Looking forward to the real lineup reveal in the next few days.Post edited by kasedoug on0 -
Dammit I almost dropped my computer when I saw Talking Heads!!! Figured out pretty quick it was fake though, although there are some good "if only's" on there...0

This is first year in awhile that my kid's spring break is not at least one weekend of Coachella... and looking at this lineup, I am MORE THAN OK with that. There may be some great bands that I just don't know about on the smaller lines of this lineup, but there are hardly any bands on the first few headliner lines that I would be excited to see. Mostly looks like a big snooze (a big EXPENSIVE snooze) but maybe I just don't know all the awesome up and coming bands on the lower levels...0

Lot of EDM VH1 mediocrity blandness. No thanks.0

As Coachella gets underway this weekend, I'm looking forward to what Goldenvoice might potentially have up their sleeves next. McCartney, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Roger Waters on one bill?!?! That would be nuts.
