Saw it last night as well. Awesome, just awesome. Great integration of new and old cast, many great nods to the original series. Some will say its not very original, I loved all the nods to the original trilogy. It was funny, the new characters were great! A couple nitpicks but overall I feel they knocked this out of the park. Seeing it again this afternoon with my daughter and a bunch of friends, can't wait.
  • Just saw it. Awesome movie and the end will make you crazy that you have to wait for the next one! Fantastic final scene.

Saw it last night and loved it. Could be the best one yet. I liked the prequels for what they were, they gave back story. The effects were too much in the prequels. I hate the updated versions of episodes 4-6. I wish you could buy the original theatrical versions. I think I have them on VHS but not sure if they were before they were updated.

Disney stated that they were going to release the original theatrical versions on bluray. I don't remember them stating a release date though.

It's the equivalent of a once great band or performer releasing their best album in years after a dry spell. Take a bow, JJ.

Saw it today and also thought it was very good. And yes, Ridley is absurdly good. Will be seeing it again within the next few weeks.

Finally saw it tonight in IMAX 3D. It pretty much exceeded all my expectations. Few things i didn't care for (most of them involving Kylo Ren). I said this earlier JJ Abrahms can't really do no wrong, can he?

I'm glad I took the day off yesterday to see it because some asshole posted a spoiler photo on George Takei's Facebook page just to piss off a Trump loving idiot. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Hell, that's something Trump would likely do.

I liked it, but dont understand why they had Jar Jar kill the entire original cast 5 minutes into the movie

That's episode IX: Revenge of Jar Jar

I really enjoyed that. Absolutely loved every single second that Han Solo was on screen. I think the film's biggest success is that all the new characters are cool or funny or interesting. There is no Jar Jar or baby Anakin here. Great time, great movie.

Saw it this afternoon, thoroughly enjoyed it. Good new characters blending with beloved old characters. The right amount of humor in the right places, decent action sequences. When does episode 8 come out?

It was very entertaining, but some of the plot points felt like it was a remake of episode 4 rather than a new chapter. Felt a lil too been there seen that more than once before.

But overall it was great fun, Daisy is a great find. She was very good. Liked Oscar Isaac as well, he's a good actor.
  • What's the appropriate amount of time to wait before we can start discussing the actual movie and plot in this thread?

I'd have to say give it until mid January. At least our local theatre is booked up until the new year. Seeing it Thursday was almost a double edged sword, there're only like 3 or 4 people I can talk about it with

May also be worthwhile to start a new thread with SPOILER clearly indicated in the title. Make it easy for people to avoid until they've seen the movie. Once they have they will be thankful there is a place they can go to discuss.

Saw it this morning (yes - we had to go to a 10:30AM show to get tickets).
Thought it was really good. The new characters are great. It is going to be interesting to see where they go with them.
