It's hard to believe that anyone could hear him speak and not realize how full of shit he is, but that is the environment we live in. Fear is easily manipulated.

I don't know what that even means. This is not my country. Just ask President Obama for more free shit that way it will feel more like yours.

Ted Cruz just said this: 'But I'll tell you, you know who I'm concerned about? I'm concerned about the single mom waiting tables right now, who for seven years of the Obama economy has been trapped in stagnation. Her wages have been stagnating. It's harder and harder to make ends meet.'

So what free shit are you talking about?

I'm not a big Hillary fan either but what you say here is at least arguable and certainly irrelevant. Not voting for either one. Besides, could be some truth that Trump is a false flag for Hillary.

But again, we digress. The issues here, if I see it right, are racism and attacks on music as sanctuary from the insanity. I like Karts plea to "Please help us all make it through". Maybe we can talk about how to do that.

This is in the wrong forum, but people being afraid to walk down the street for fear of being attacked is not a laughing matter, whether they are white, black or brown. Trump and Cruz have set our country back a century and this will take generations to repair.

Evanston must have gotten pretty bad where you cannot walk down the street w/o being in fear of being attacked. Eddie Mueler would be really disappointed to hear that

This is what their rhetoric is turning our country into...

Today. On a crowded bus. On Michigan Avenue. On my way home from a great job in a city in a diverse country that I was born in.

A man screamed at me. Called me a sand ni**er. Told me I was the problem. That I need to get the fuck out of his country.

I may have been wearing my scarf higher on my head than usual because it was cold out. I may have somehow looked suspicious listening to Spotify. I am half Iranian, so maybe it was my skin or my eyes.

But 5 minutes of this at least went on with no one doing anything. Me telling him calmly to back off. Me telling him I would call the cops and me trying to get my gloves off to dial.

Then this man spits at me. A man in a suit and tie. Like anyone else I'd see. He spits at me and looks at me with these regular eyes now filled with anger and tells me to get the fuck off the bus, do what I'm told, because this isn't my country. This isn't my place.

That's when I screamed at the top of my lungs for him to back off. That's when people decided to maybe help and tell him to stop. That got the attention of the bus driver to kick him out.

I'm home now in my nice apartment in a nice part of Chicago with my fiancé and my cat. Sitting in a room looking out at the lights of other apartments. Wondering how many others out there got screamed at and told today this isn't their country, that they're worthless somehow, that they don't matter. How many?

My father was in the World Trade Center on 9/11 and survived. Days and weeks and years after that horrible day, I have been told somehow me or my mother's family are the cause, that we are evil and going to Hell. That Iranians, that Middle Eastern people, that Muslims are less than human.

I am a mixture like so many in this country today.

I was born in Boston, Massachusetts. It's one of the most patriotic cities in America. My ancestor Hugh Drury is buried in the oldest graveyard in Boston, and he helped contribute to the building blocks of what would become the United States of America.

And yes I'm also Iranian. My mother's family came here to seek incredible opportunities and they found them. They've become doctors and entrepreneurs and athletes and writers and singers.

I have family who are Muslim.
    have family who are Catholic.
I have family who enjoy laughing and talking and dancing and drinking till they're silly.

And I am American. and this is my country. I do belong here. My roots are planted here.

I'm here and I belong. I won't get off the bus.

He may be referencing the EODM Bataclan attack. It hit me really hard as live music/concerts are a sanctuary for me. The next show I went to after that, I couldn't help but fear that situation happening again.
Exactly. And when I said the retaliation has been worse, I do mean the hate speech from the right. I didn't mean for this to be a political discussion (even though that can't be avoided) - but more so a plea for the band to release music and do shows that speak to people like me. That's exactly what happened in 2003 when it wasn't cool to be anti-war and it wasn't cool to target Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld for the war criminals they are. That moment in time was the scariest political climate while also being my proudest moment as a PJ fan.

I feel things have regressed to being just as bad now and I need them more so than ever.

Well that's what happens when guys in big bands get married, have kids, have a few divorces, owe some $, have loads more responsibility of people counting on them to make a living, so essentially Growing the Fuck up... Our Boy EV has chilled out immensely over the past 10 years. How many times do you read on these forums on how much fun these guys look like the are having on stage now? It's about Rock n Roll people!! We or these rock stars aren't solving anything, so get over it. Save the preaching for Boner and U2. On the bright side, EV is much happier these days and a lot more fun to be around. And no, it's not just the succes of the Chicago Cubs...

Why don't you guys all get republican party memberships so you can at least make sure he doesn't win at the primaries? :) defect from the party after the vote?

Hopefully things turn out ok for you guys. Here in Canada it feels like a breath of fresh air after the last election. Our last P.M. seemed to have tunnel vision and didn't seem to embrace many of the things we identify as Canadian. Our new P.M. seems a little old school Canadian. The only problem so far is the amount of people asking for money is insane. At some point he's going to learn how to say no :)

That's what's going on here with President Obama everyone wants more free shit. Change won't come from Hillary Clinton. It's more of the same.
Far, far better than the change Trump would bring. He is becoming the biggest embarrassment America has to offer.
    How has he embarrassed you?

So what free shit are you talking about?

Food stamps, welfare and disability all up over 300% under President Obama, free cell phone programs, Obama Care free for some people on the backs of the middle class. Now let me guess you're going to blame someone else for all of the free hand outs he gives but before you do know this during the great depression the percentage of people on welfare and food stamps was lower than under President Obama. You do know he bailed out wall street too right. What free shit? Give me a break.
