10-4 thanks for sharing, I apologize for suspecting otherwise, there were a few suggested emails throughout the thread.

I did not get the email either. I with they had been upfront on how many orders for the gold actually received. They know this number, they do not have to estimate. Also, throwing out numbers doesn't make it meaningful. And finally, just number the damn things! Am I the only one who feels strongly about numbering limited edition posters? Grrr.
I wonder if they only sent emails to those who bought after the original "handful" were sold?

I just got the email immediately after I posted. Maybe they read my post lol
Looking at the numbers I would say there are only 155 golds. Since 42% of orders had gold and there are 130 ap and 85 silver. Not sure if they are just throwing 300 out there for secrecy to reward those that keep it or my math is flawed.
Edit- forgot about the real orders of gold since it sounds like the 42% was the overage so tack on another 20-40 maybe

It's growing up just like me
That Pendleton print is really nice, and he seems like a good dude. I still think Ames are good and I look forward to buying from them again in the future. Everyone has something like this happen from time to time, I do not fault them, sh** happens. I am just glad it is now coming forward with how to cancel and so forth, but still a bit disappointed that they are being sly about the projected printing number (but of course it really varies depending on how many cancel)

Totally understand, and if after you read today's email update, you still want to cancel - no problem. See below:
Hello,
First off, thanks for supporting our art.
As you know, it was our goal to release only a very small quantity of Gold Posters. Technology wasn’t on our side, and that didn’t happen - we ended up selling more than planned. The reason you are receiving this communication is because you were one of the 42% of people that had a Gold Poster in their shopping cart and completed a successful transaction before we caught the mistake, and turned off the product. Approximately 17% of Gold Poster buyers had questions/concerns, mostly around how many units were actually sold.
Here’s what we can tell you:
Gold posters will be Signed by Artist, as advertised. We still feel, based on the overwhelming demand for the poster, that $250 is fair price for the Gold Poster, and will not be issuing discounts. We estimate the print run to be less than three hundred, and maybe much less depending on cancellations. Because of this unintended discrepancy, our standard cancellation/return policy on posters will not apply. Anyone that wants to cancel their Gold Poster order can, and will be issued a full refund. To receive a refund, you must reply to this email by Wednesday, 9/30/2015 with “CANCEL MY ORDER”. Profits from all posters sold beyond what we had originally intended to produce will be donated to the Vitalogy Foundation, a charitable organization helping countless numbers of people.
Our apologies for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.
I've been saying about 300 of these exist the whole time...
This might sower the spark for this poster. Watch the Pendleton start to soar now!
Guys, based on order numbers posted, there were less than 300 total orders across all versions. 130 regular. 85 chrome. That means less than 85 gold. Relax. It's still rare.
Heard quite differently to this
Mine is based on facts - the posted order numbers. You really can't argue with that.
You could be right. Was told that over 400 sold of the gold. No guarantee that is correct though and if folk like the gold and intended to keep it - there's no harm done. Get it behind glass and move on.
Almost every one of the show editions on eBay are going for over $200. A few finished at around $185 but that's the lowest. It should be interesting to see where the gold price settles.
Personally I prefer the show edition. The gold looks too gaudy for my taste. I'm excited I snagged a regular AP. Can't wait to get it up on the wall.

I'm thinking Ames will have only sent their most recent email to those that emailed them directly, I did and I got the Ames email that mentions the 42% etc. I'm not happy overall with the situation, but keeping the Poster. Figured if I wanted to buy ANY of the signed Ames Transformers Prints then it would cost me more than the $250 + shipping, that the Gold has cost on the secondary Market (Lost Dogs/Ebay). Personally I prefer the Chrome, but Gold was all I could order after the 'Sold Out' notice in my shopping cart for the Chrome. I would swap a Gold for a Chrome - but suspect no one will now want that trade.

You might be right. They responded to an email I sent them with that email with 42% that someone posted a few posts above.
someone should start a poll in a new thread and see if anyone will never buy from Ames again after this or if the frustrations quickly go away the next time a cool print is released. Would make a good science experiment
'An unfortunate Internet purchasing snafu + overhyped childish themed poster + realizing you're paying $200 plus for different coloured paper = refund and move on with life. Enjoy the music everyone. Have a nice week

will definitely think twice about purchasing from them again, but my internet is usually not fast enough anyway....

All will be forgotten when the next AWESOME print is out. Everyone forgave them for that Hartford poster? Apeman/jumpman was it?!?

I didnt buy any of these so I'm not really affected, but I don't usually go for variants anyway. I would buy from them still, but only if the price is right. $100+shipping for a standard a/p and $200-250 for variants is a little bit of a gouge. I got an a/p from Johnny Crap and it was $60 shipped. From Canada to the US. And he's not near as big on the market as Ames Bros.
They're offering a refund, not much else they can do at this point.

I don't have any problem with Ames Bros. They made a mistake and are giving people refunds if they want them so no harm done. Everyone makes mistakes.
