Ever since reading this tread I've become acutely aware of all the other music they are playing. The band must be in on it because they do voice overs sharing anecdotes about their favorite bands before it's played. In some ways I don't mind but I think it's a bit over done, when I hop in the car now I think it's on Lithium instead of PJ. One thing that bug me (someone mentioned it earlier) is that they tend to play different versions of the same radio hits over and over. I like deep cuts but that might be their way of attracting casual listeners, just like adding in all the non-PJ music.
Overall, I just renewed for another 6 months at the cheap rate and I'm happy to have Sirius in the car for news and other stuff. I love when I'm on a long drive and the PJ channel is playing a great concert from the earlier years, it makes the time fly and I'm fully entertained.
^^^^^ That is funny!! Maybe they're withholding PJ so we don't take them for granted. When I hear PJ played on THEIR radio channel I feel privileged, like I lucked out and had good timing.
I think it's great to play different music (i could never listen to just PJ all the time). Just play good different music (qnd not Creed, like someone said they heard on channel 22 the other day - wtf?), and it's all good. I'd probably listen to the station more if it has a wider variety (if i subscribed - not even sure I can from canada). 10C radio is basically all PJ all the time. No need for two stations to do it IMO.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata
you're right.....as long as it's good music it's nice to break it up a little but I can do the same by changing the channel. I guess the big beef is that they are now doing it every few songs unless playing a boot.
i'm ALWAYS happy to get turned onto other music, especially knowing the band has picked the songs/artists...which is also exactly why I loved the two JA radio mix specials he did last year. A++ on those Jeff! thanks for letting us know what you like!! if you have sirius then you have tons of options if you don't like the song... does anyone remember when AM radio was the only option in their car? i do. complaints? NONE.
They've had some music on there that is pretty bad...I feel like it is getting worse. They are also playing a good amount of "Lithium Material" which I am fine with but let's be honest...if I wanted to listen to that, I'd tune into Lithium Channel. When I tune into Pearl Jam Radio, I expect Pearl Jam.
I Know All The Rules But The Rules Do Not Know Me.
"they've had some music on there that is pretty bad" one person's opinion really doesn't matter! LOL i was 15 when star wars came out.
I think the band is having fun with their own radio channel, who wouldn't? However, like anything else, when you change things up al little, people who liked it the way it was will be disappointed and as a paying customer of Sirius XM you can voice your displeasure or change the channel. When I hear a song I don't like I change the channel, but I'll go back and check later. The people who are upset are feeling a bit ripped off. It is "Pearl Jam Radio" after all, not "pearl Jam's Friends/TourMates & Influences Channel" Point is, one person's opinion does matter when they are a paying customer, and a successful business operation understands that. Of course you cannot please everyone... But I believe there is too much non-PJ material to keep me listening. If I had not purchased a lifetime subscription 13 years ago i might be a bit upset myself. But I have not paid a dime for Sirius in 10 years by my estimation and I have 2 or 3 more vehicles to go before that lifetime subscription runs out (changing receivers clause). I believe they knew their old receivers were junk and never expected us to get this kind of "mileage" out of satellite radio with the built-in option on vehicles
I turn on PJ Radio. It's the same Rolling Stone song they play constantly. Next comes a studio track. Then a live song with missing lyrics. Then a song by one of their "contemporaries".......
