I don't understand why people are already changing their flights and adding nights to their hotel. Pretty much everyone is under the assumption that their all getting tickets. If this place holds up to 1,400 people that means the maximum (which probably won't end up being) amount of tickets they will release will be 700 pairs. That means only 700 fan club members are gonna be getting tickets. Now I went to Chicago last tour and their were a lot more than 700 fan club members at the show. Furthermore this is the only appearance the band will make this year so you can guess how many more fans are coming in just to see them. You all are not getting tickets!!! Face it!!! So I am in the same boat as everyone else. I am supposed to come in Friday morning with my wife. But to change our flights will cost us over $500 when you include the price of the ticket and hotel. I also understand that pretty much everyone would rather see them at the Vic than at some crappy open air festival where the sound sucks. But why are you guys paying all this money to change your flights when you don't even have tickets yet??? I understand that if you wait till tomorrow the price of your ticket will go up because it will be within seven days of your departure. I called my airline already and they told me it will cost us $185 a piece to change the flight now so who knows what it will be by tomorrow. The bottom line is all you guys who are changing their flights today will be writing threads tomorrow about how this band suck because I didn't get any tickets and I paid all this money to change my flight.

i changed my flight only because i had a lucky loophole....
i rec'd an email about a week or two ago that said that american airlines had changed the arrival time of my flight (it was only by like 15-20 minutes, but whatever...)
therefore when this show came up, i called and asked about changing my arrival for an earlier flight.
they told me that because they had adjusted the schedule that i could change the flight without being charged.
i would not have been able to change it if not for that fact...
we are 4 people (husband and I and our two sons) and it would have cost too much!!!

soooo, if i don't get the tickets which i hope i do (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!)
we'll have a whole extra day in Chicago... :)

I belive they stay in milwaukee wi. to get away from the crowds.
drive there after the show i am sure you will meet them. thay stay at a place near the airport close to the airport lounge.
    one love

    respect
  • Amazing venue on the north side of the city. Probably 35 mins from either airport depending on traffic (probably none on Thursday evening). I'll be in front with cash if anybody that gets tickets decides to go solo. I'll pay for both of us and more if that's what it takes.

does anyone know which hotel the band typically stays in when they play in chicago?
i hopefully will be able to travel to chicago for the VIC SHOW, and it would be so cool to be able to stay in the same hotel as the band.
if anyone has info ....that would be awesome!
    They stay here

But they use fake names, so to find them, ask for:

    Ed: Haywood Jablowmey
    Mike: Chip B VonToast
    Matt: Phil McCraken
    Stone: Seymour Butts
    Jeff: Craven Moorehead
    Boom: Kenneth Gaspar

They usually don't post that or home address on here. I would think they like some space, and don't want 5,000 PJ fans waiting in the lobby. Would you want everyone bugging you?

You will need to use your head if you hope to meet guys in the band, but many of us have been able to without stalking them.

Well, considering the price and the fact that it's JUST Pearl Jam (as far as we know) - coupled with the fact that it's members-only tells me that it may be MORE than a normal set list. Perhaps an acoustic sit down, followed by a full normal concert?

In any case, I'm EXPECTING just a normal show. It's more than worth it for such a small venue. Anything extra will just be a real nice surprise.

You sure would...and deserve it too ;)

So, you're coming too Hinny? We need that mullet over there!
Nah, the flight from Sydney to Chicago and back costs too much, and I completely destroyed my bank account after Europe. Would've gone if I had another month to save up.

Barbara might be bringing a 'Hinny still wants his mullet back' sign :)

    its weird..

i keep talking & thinking about this show

and i keep hyping it up to myself

and then i realize "wait! you dont have tickets yet! stop thinking about how great its gonna be!"

then i go right back in and start thinking about how fucking great this show is gonna be.

anyone else going through this same, endless cycle?

Yes I am! And there's no way I can go due to an underage family member with me, but I do keep thinking how great its going to be!

What is the deal on going alone to this show. I know that me getting a ticket is a long shot but if I am successfull, I don't have anyone that will come with me from Winnipeg. Will I be able to sell my other ticket? Are they giving tickets or wrist bands for this show. How easy will it be for me to get rid of my other ticket there? Will the person that I go to the show will have to be there when I pick up the tickets. Please help.

There are already a dozen threads pleading to be your ticket buddy out on this board if you're lucky enough to get them. People are giving up their homes and family members so you shouldn't have any problems having a "date" for the show.

Also for folks questioning how many friends/industry/family folk will be there, the Vic has three (I think three) private balconies on each side of the venue that can fit about 20 people each. Most family/industry sit there. The nice thing is I doubt the press folks (especially Greg Kot who wrote Pearl Jam is the act you can skip at Lolla) will be allowed in.

The Vic has a large floor area with a lower area near the stage and a slightly elevated area behind that with bars, soundboard etc. The place to be though is to get upstairs fast and get a near row of the balcony. I have done this many times for Wilco. Best seats in the house, best sound etc. It is one of the best venues I've been to and I used to be a music critic.
