Group love actually got to be a guest DJ back sometime last year and did like a 1 hour or so segment on how influential PJ was on them and how they were briefly acquinted with the band and one festival or another. They seem to be getting more inventive with trying to connect other artist related to PJ.
The last Jack White track I heard was intro'd with Mike's interview with Jack last year that played on the station.

I've actually enjoyed the Impact Tracks, especially when they have a band member explaining why they like that particular song. That said, I have noticed of late that every 3rd or 4th song is another band. At first I was ok with it because I got tired of hearing another cookie cutter, live version of Evenflow from *enter any tour*. But it seems like it's been a bit much of late. I don't think they are phasing the station away though, just mixing it up. I say this for a couple of reasons... Any time PJ is played on any other station...Lithium, The Spectrum, etc. they almost always have a cut in after the song saying "If you want to hear more PJ, tune to channel 22..." So, they are still promoting the channel even in other areas. Secondly, only a few bands have been able to have their own channel be successful. Elvis, Springsteen, Greatful Dead, Jimmy Buffett (still don't get this one...). They've tried out other channels for other bands. Dave Matthews Band had a channel at one point, but it didn't last. And it didn't last long! I'm pretty sure the inclusion of more Impact Tracks is just them mixing it up. Nothing more.
It's funny that sometimes they'll play the wrong intro to a song. I've heard it happen a few times, but most recently was Stone introducing Led Zeppelin's Kashmir and he ends with saying "..so let's listen to it" and they play In the Light.

It's rare when they get the intro right. How many times I've heard "And here is another live track from the Lightning Bolt tour..." then an album song comes on.
I just don't get the fascination with listening to SiriusXM radio in the first place. I had a free subscription when I bought my new car and never listened to it. With the voice command systems in most new cars, using my iPod, I can tell my sound system what song, artist, album, or playlist I want to hear. And I don't have a monthly subscription to pay either!! NOW if they used SiriusXM to broadcast PJ shows LIVE... then it would be worth the price. Until that day comes, I'll just listen to what I want to hear, when I want to hear it!!
BINGO
Yup. 160G iPod classic. Hit shuffle. Bam Abe Froman radio!
What exactly does the sausage king listen to?
I'm all over the place...from Miles Davis to Slayer to Willie Nelson, ect.

Impact tracks are great, but since when was PJ impacted by the Black Keys and DMB?? Sounds like Channel 22 is just turning into kind of an alt-rock/pop station.
Perhaps it's the other way around? Like PJ had an impact on the Black Keys, for example. And I can see the DMB comparison...both rely heavily on touring and like to jam out on a number of songs.

I wish PJ would jam out more.... I've been waiting for a 20 minute version of Alive, Evenflow, or Wishlist forever, they could learn from Phish.

I can't even listen anymore. Luckily I have a hard drive loaded with PJ albums in my car. Maybe we should all send them emails letting them know we're not going to renew our subscriptions if they don't get their act together.
I escaped it...a life wasted...I'm never going back again

Not sure if anyone heard yesterday's (3/17) Wishlist segment. I think they reversed the order of the tracks compared to what the person requested (guy was from Long Island). For example, he'd be like "here's Daughter/It's Ok from Jones Beach", and then they played Chloe/Crown. The whole show was off a song or two and never coincided with what should've been played.
I think it's somewhat funny how they're going outside the PJ realm but honestly, they really need to focus on getting all the kinks out. Since PJ Radio launched, I don't recall so many issues going on like this. Makes you feel someone is asleep behind the wheel. :(
I heard some awful song... Don't know if the artist was Grouplove or Tongue tied. What is that?
Anyway, I like some of the "influence" stuff because the artists themselves are more eclectic and these songs are usually good. Adam Raised A Cain by the Boss or Machine Gun by Jimi come to mind. You don't hear that stuff many places. some obscure Neil Young influenced Radiohead song or the Midlake stuff was cool because I had never heard it before. Fugazi because where else is it played? Ramones don't do much for me but it doesn't make me change the station. But it is getting carried away, some of these songs have me back on 34 or 38 or 41 for the first time in a long time. I miss that punk channel *sigh*
Ronnie's Movie Game was great. "It's about a guy who pays for a whore and then he doesn't!"
"It's about two guys with a crazy car and one of the guys goes back in time and makes out with his mom!"
"There's a $10,000 bill in it for you."
"Oh yeah? Which president's on it?"

Faction is a pretty good channel too. Ive heard lots of punk bands I would have never heard of before. And agreed on all the above channels too.
I think the one that some of my American friends may be missing is actually a pretty decent station called Iceberg that has some unique Canadian artists of many genres. Mock all you want but there are actually some good bands!

This does not shock me that much. When did PJ radio begin, 2008-2009? I know it was before Backspacer. They've only released two records since it began, so it's probably pretty hard to keep people listening that long. I know there are countless live cuts to choose from, but that's really only for us hardcore fans. Even I can't get too excited about the 374th version of Alive I've heard on this station.
Don't get me wrong, I hope it stays on the air forever, but the reality is that they may just need to mix it up a little more with other bands to keep people listening. If PJ comes out with another record and major tour in the next couple of years, it may give the station some more juice.

Two: love the old tape boots brings me back to the trader days
Three: occasional impact was cool, I agree way too much now. It is PJ radio what the fuck do you the new into it for if you don't want to hear PJ?
Four I think too many full shows, I always get even flow without fail, I prefer a better mix up of songs
