Favorite Cover that PJ plays consistently?
Options
I was thinking today about all of the different covers the band plays and which one was my favorite. I tried to pick songs that the band plays on a regular basis and is more than an instrumental. Comment if you choose one that isn't listed.

Crown Of Thorns
I'm surprised by the lack of RITFW. I guess they play it so often, it hardly seems like a cover anymore. No offense to NY.
Disregard. I see there are only three responses thus far.I know I was born and I know that I'll die. The in between is mine.0 -
Fuckin' UpLove Fuckin' Up. Not just the PJ version, just love the song. probably because I am constantly asking myself the same thing! LOLHugh Freaking Dillon is currently out of the office, returning sometime in the fall0

Cracker did a great cover of it as a b-side to Euro-Trash Girl.paulonious said:Love Fuckin' Up. Not just the PJ version, just love the song. probably because I am constantly asking myself the same thing! LOL

Maybe the one we haven't heard live yet..? Never mind that's just as hard to choose!Oh please let it rain today.
Those that can be trusted can change their mind.0 -

All Along The WatchtowerSonic Reducer is actually my most favorite. Why isn't this one on the list if I may ask? They played it as much as All Along The Watchtower.0

The Real MeI think the Real Me is my favorite. The VH1 version is so ridiculously good, it's sick. But the pure joy of Baba when you are at a show is hard to beat. Even a great bootleg version doesn't do justice to the communal nature of the song.0

Baba O'RileySonic Reducer???? Kick Out The Jams???? Leaving Here?????
CRAZY MARY??????????????
Sorry....it's fine.0 -
Baba O'RileyJust an additional statement: If 'Crown of Thorns' is a cover then I guess 'Hunger Strike" is too.0
-
The Real MeI wish there were more than 10 choices! I forgot Mother, Sonic Reducer, and Crazy Mary. I just went through the song list and gathered up a list and narrowed it down to 10. I should start a second poll with all of the songs I left out!Post edited by jeff2040 onSometimes you find yourself

They "kill" it alright. But I think you and I are using "kill" in different terms. I don't like Eddie's vocals on it. And I didn't like his vocals on that Comfortably Numb cover he did with Waters either. What about Pink Floyd's "Mother". They kill that song..

The Real Me
I think it's pretty good. I enjoy it actually, but maybe I just really like when the full band kicks in and Mike's solo starts.Ledbetterman10 said:

As far as covers I don't like, I think they butcher Waiting on a Friend. It's one of my favorite Stones tunes, but it just doesn't work for them. I think they should do some Bruce. I'm surprised they don't, considering the synergy of the voices.0 -
Can't choose.0

They play Driven to Tears "consistently"? 12 times in 24 years.
Sonic Reducer is my answer but its not played consistently enough to make the poll. This weekend we rock Portland0 -
Rockin' In The Free WorldHad to be RITFW as the MTV version with Neil Young was my first Pearl Jam jaw dropping moment. Although The Real Me was sooooo good in Leeds last year, which is typical it was left off the bootleg!
Also would have had more problems had Crazy Mary made it to the poll.0 -
Love Reign O'er MeI love the way they did Better Things in Amsterdam 2012.rustedsigns0

The Real Me
Open All Night from Denver '14. Loved it. No Stones, more Bruce.mrussel1 said:

Fuckin' UpI wish they'd bring back Fortunate Son - miss that one from the '03 tour (minus the Sleater-Kinney).0

The Real MeTheir cover of "Setting Forth" is just spot on. That counts, right?0
