PJ20 error

Not sure about the Asia tour, but Jack joined them later in 1994 I thought. So February doesn't make sense unless he filled in or something.... ?Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

It's just an error: not 1994, but 1995.0
-
not a big deal at all, movie is amazing....just thought someone would have pointed that out before it was released!0
-
I think it's important to have all facts right in a documentary. It is a big deal to have a year wrong in this kind of movie. If i was in charge of the film I'd be pissed at whoever screwed that up and at the editors/fact checkers, and at myself.

They also said Apr 8 the day Cobain died but that's just the day his body was found.0
-
haha. I tweeted him about it. No response. It's definitely wrong, but whatever. Just a minor error.0

I agree. There are numerous errors, the movie comes off as a rush job.PJ_Soul said:I think it's important to have all facts right in a documentary. Agreed. It plucks fans' heartstrings a bit I think, but it's actually a relatively terrible documentary.Empty Glass said:

I don't know if I'm wrong, or crazy, or this has been mentioned before...but about the 5th line down in the original post. Mawky1103 is the poster. Shouldn't it be "tour"?? They didn't "your" Asia in 1994 either.0

Good stuff cropdustair!!!!! LolI'll ride the wave where it takes me......0
-
haha! good catch. My mistake. At least I own up to them.0

nada yet, perhaps i'll tweet him again. Funny thing is..he has responded to me before. I was in Seattle 2 years ago visiting a friend and I asked him where we could buy Singles in town so we could watch it. He told me where I could buy it in the city.0
-
True, but that one's always been mixed up. The generally said his body has found on the 8th but had been there for a few days. No one really ever got the date right at first. Radio stations would kind of meander around the 4th and 5th,6th etc.... It took a while to settle on the 5th (or at least for mainstream media to finally figure it out). People get it wrong all the time. It probably was cemented right until Layne Stayley passed away. The cooicidence of it being the same day generally got people on the same page.FrankY59 said:They also said Apr 8 the day Cobain died but that's just the day his body was found.

PJ20 was disappointing as a documentary.

Yep. While it was very enjoyable to watch, there was so much that they left out. Only taking 30 seconds to explain the drummers was such a cop-out. Besides Cobain's death and Roskilde, it didn't seem like they wanted to cover anything that would make them uncomfortable. Pretty much the opposite of what a documentary is supposed to accomplish.PJ_Soul said:

Agree with all of this. I agree that a documentary should include the good, the bad, and the ugly. One could argue that the drunken MTV performance was showing some of the bad, but I think it just says, "Oh look, they're saying 'fuck MTV'". How about at least a brief description of each album? How were things going at the time? What were the band dynamics? After the Roskilde thing, I felt like the rest of it was just celebratory with no real weight to it. There's good footage, but it definitely lacks depth.Indifference71 said:

The errors should just not happen. I'm pretty sure there are date errors in the soundtrack booklet as well. Doesn't seem that difficult to get it right... hell, they should've had a couple fans that know this shit off the top of their heads look it over before completion.

I may be wrong but I also seem to remember them listing a 2000 performance of Nothing As It Seems as a 2001 performance.0

yeah, if you want a "warts and all" documentary on someone, it shouldn't be done by a friend. not challenging at all. But I still love it. It maddens me that they glossed over the drummer thing. that was one of the things I wanted to hear about. I mean, even if you can't stand Dave A, give props to the other guys at the very least. I think they deserved that much.Hugh Freaking Dillon is currently out of the office, returning sometime in the fall0

PJ20 was just a really long advertisement for PJ (and MLB) I thought. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

I thought it had WAY too much MLB in it. not sure why they did that. 2 out of the 5 members were in that band. so what? yes, the death of the singer indirectly lead to the formation of PJ, but so what? maybe it was at Humble Ed's insistence (the "if it weren't for his misfortune, I'd have no fortune" thing).Hugh Freaking Dillon is currently out of the office, returning sometime in the fall0

Waaaaaaaay too much mlb in it. They should have put more footage from 95-98.I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

well, I can't say for sure. from everything that is in print (including PJ20 book), it seemed like Ed couldn't. But again, Ed never told me that himself.2-feign-reluctance said:

given their stance on awards (at the time), I'd bet that the AMA acceptance speeches he showed up for on behalf of the band maybe didn't sit well with them. who knows.2-feign-reluctance said:All any of us 'fans' know about Dave is what's been written or accounted for by the current band members. *Disclaimer* - He's the best drummer they've had!
