Funny "Purl Jam" poster in new Squirrel Girl comic
Options
I was reading marvels new "The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl" comic today and there was a really funny PJ reference. When Squirrel Girl walks into her new dorm for the first time they show some panels of the posters on the wall to give the reader an idea of some of her roommates hobbies, one of the posters says "Purl Jam" and has the stickman made out of yarn. I looked it up and "purl" is a style of knitting. Completely made my day, great new book too!

Thanks! I also thought it was cool that they used backspacer writing for it, so you know whoever thought of it wasn just some dude who grew up in the 90's and liked even flow.0

Now maybe it's a dude who grew up in the 90s, now nothing about pearl jam but heard the fixer a bunch on the radio."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -
Haha that's great, I actually know a guy who's pretty much exclusively a fan on ten and the fixer, no joke.Post edited by RiotZact on0

I used to scotch tape a few Pearl Jam 1996 tour prints when I was in University. Also had a few Pearl Jam '98 prints in my room. Thumbtacking them. At times cutting the corners cause of all the damages it took from moving them around the rooms. I had a dart board right by a few PJ posters that took damage from my amazing darting skills ... Fun times not giving a fuck what the value these "gig posters" were down the road. D'oh!!! :(0 -
I caught this when I read that issue too. I was going to post about it but wasn't sure if anybody else was a comic reader around here. I have posted a few times in a comic thread and very little response there. Glad somebody else caught it. Anybody else keeping up on the Marvel Universe? I read all of their books every week."Not only do you have sunshine but you have better thunder...fuckers." -Ed, Phx 10/21/00

I don't read everything but I read just about anything spider-man related and a couple other things. Right now I'm fully submerged in the Spider-verse plus Hawkeye and just started reading Ant-man and of coarse Squirrel girl. Ant-man is also awesome I think nick spencer might be my favorite writer right now.0

Spider-verse has been much better than I expected. Hawkeye has been great. Bummed that there's only one more issue of Fraction's run on that one. Fraction is probably my favorite writer right now. Some of his stuff for Image has been great too (ex. Sex Criminals). Also enjoyed his runs of Thor and Iron Man a few years ago."Not only do you have sunshine but you have better thunder...fuckers." -Ed, Phx 10/21/00

Fraction is the best.
But Spencer is probably my favorite too. I love Morning Glories.
Really looking forward to Howard the Duck (Zdarsky is hysterical). And Secret wars is gonna be mindblowing because Hickman owns all.0 -
I agree. Very much looking forward to Secret Wars and all of the fall-out coming from that. Hickman, Bendis & Brubaker are my other favorites. Loved Brubakers Captain America/Winter Soldier stuff. Also his Criminal Saga and Fatale.
On the Morning Glories topic...I've read all of the issues and there is still a lot of confusion. I think I like it. Lol. Am I missing something or is there still a lot up in the air and many more questions than answers?"Not only do you have sunshine but you have better thunder...fuckers." -Ed, Phx 10/21/00

nobody knows the other comic book pearl jam was referenced in?0

Anybody read Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber's Superior Foes of Spider-Man? Quite possibly my favorite series ever. And I think Aja is more important to hawkeye than fraction actually, all the issues I've read without his art have been not nearly as good, same with his run on iron fist he co wrote few years back, Aja's artwork was never on time so they had to use other artists here and there and it diminished the quality big time IMO.0

The stickman made out of yarn is just too good. I might have to have my girlfriend who knits make me one. There's still no way I'm gonna fucking learn how to knit tho. No disrespect to all you purliners out there.
Maybe we could run a stickman contest Use your talents to make your rendition of stickman and put it out into the world. He could become as popular as the PEACE sign!take the reigns and
steer us towards the clear here
I know it's already been sung
but it can't be said enough
