Brad Klausen Mike McCready Mad Season Sonic Evolution Seattle Poster World Premiere Exclusive

    Brad-Klausen-Mike-McCready-Mad-Season-Poster-Seattle.jpg

Tonight Pearl Jam's Mike McCready joins the Seattle Symphony at Benaroya Hall for a special night of music. Sonic Evolution celebrates the past, present and future of music with brand-new symphonic compositions inspired by musical icons Pearl Jam, Nirvana and more. PLUS! Mad Season's Mike McCready and Barrett Martin team up with Chris Cornell, Duff McKagan and other guests for a special performance.

For this event Brad Klausen has created an equally special poster. Here is what Brad said regarding the design based off the Waking the Horizon title of Mike's orchestral composition and Mike's comments:

McCready was inspired by “looking at the sunrise and thinking of how many possibilities for change there are in life, and also thinking of the millions of sunrises that have happened and what that means to me in terms of waking to my truth each day.”

I only got 3 sunrises in there, originally there was gonna be more then 3 (couldn't do a million...) but it just got kinda cluttered so I went with 3... and the mushrooms are a reference to the name Mad Season...

The poster is a 14.1 x 24.5 inch screen print with an edition of 300. 200 will be on sale tonight at the show and Brad will have 100 for sale either Saturday or Monday in his store. As soon as he decides I will update this post.

Not shocking but when will they learn? Last night fans posted online seeing a customer picking up 10 prints, booing at him. There was no limit on print buying. Totally stupid when there's only an edition of 300 prints for an event that seats 2500 @ the S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium in Benaroya Hall.

And someone has two up on the Bay for $600 a pop. This won't end until people quit thinking that they have to have one of everything Pearl Jam related. I understand collecting. I'm guilty of dabbling in it myself. But lately all things merch related has gotten completely out of control. I've pretty much lost all interest in merch due to this.

Who can blame this guy though or the dude buying 10 prints last night, especially if there was no limit? If you can flip a $30 poster for $600 and know someone will probably buy it, why wouldn't you. I would. For perspective $600 is roughly the same amount someone pulling in $45k a year clears in a week after taxes. For a lot of people that's some good money. Until folks decide that they don't need some of this stuff and stop paying asinine amounts of money for it, this is the new norm.

I was there, but got shut out on the poster. Would've really liked one, to have on the wall to remind me of the night. They sold out on XL tshirts too. Should've got there earlier, but Seattle traffic did its thing. I'll take the memories of the show.

Regarding the poster...welcome to the new norm, as others have already said. I can see three max...one to frame frontwards, another to frame to show the reverse (as was the case with the 2014 tour), and one for trade. That's a reasonable amount...but until people stop spending $600 on a poster, that's life. And does that guy really care he was booed at? I doubt he'll mind the boos as he's flying home on his flight paid for by those posters. He probably views it as "doing a service for people who couldn't make the show."

Now...if the poster auctions started at $15 each and finished in the $500-$600 range, that's one thing...but just to ask for that much out of the box?

What I'd like to see is when you buy a ticket, there should be an option to have ONE poster, t-shirt and sticker (if applicable) sent to that member (for the appropriate costs) AFTER the tour ends. That might help things.
