RIP Mr. Cub. You were (and still are) a beacon of light for my hometown! Thank you for inviting me to your house on summer of 2013!!! You will never be forgotten!!

In a time where athletes seem less and less human all the time, we need to remember and honor a man like Ernie Banks. One of the greatest players of all time. But a better man. I had always hoped he would get to see the Cubs win a WS, but to me, he has always represented everything that is good about sports, and always will.
RIP Mr. Cub....the one thing with the Cubs worth talking about. Always seemed like a classy guy.
My uncle met him this past season at a Wrigley Field, right out in the concourse. Didn't wanna sign or take pics and give himself away. Sorta crazy that he could even show up close to Wrigley and not be mauled with attention.
Has anyone seen a response from Eddie on twitter or an interview since ernie passed?
I posted a sincere rip on this forum. How dare you be an asshole and wish an rip to this guy too.
I can't imagine this guy who passed has had such an impact on your life that you bring up EV.

Ernie Banks was the embodiment of what it means to be a Cubs fan. Over two-thirds of his playing career was on teams with losing records, yet his optimism never faltered. Day in and day out you would never catch him with anything but a huge smile on his face. He was Mr. Cub, for sure, but he was also Mr. Sunshine. His smile was the most genuine and warmest of any I've ever seen. He remained a great ambassador for the Cubs organization for the rest of his life. He was a legend in the sport, a pioneer for the organization, a true gentleman, and he will be missed greatly not only by Cubs fans, but all of baseball.

I heard on around the horn yesterday that a great way for MLB to honor Ernie Banks would be to have a double header day. Or a "let's play 2" day where every team plays a double header. Seems like something that could be easily done.

EV isn't the only dude from the chicagoland area.
Len said that Ernie Banks was a PJ fan and loved talking about Eddie and the band.
They also showed some cool Wrigley footage when he was on stage.
WE WILL MISS YOU, SIR.
GO, CUBS, GO!!!
