Bootlegs in FLAC HD / ALAC HD format?
I bought the Berlin shown in ALAC-HD format but noticed that the file sizes are smaller than usual and the files are actually only 24bit and 44.1khz.
Can anyone confirm if other shows are like this and also is the Berlin FLAC HD version proper 24/96?
Contacted Nugs.net already but haven't got an answer yet.

I bought the Vienna show in ALAC-HD and can confirm that the files are 24/44.1, not 24/96 as advertised. I also emailed Nugs and have not received a response yet.0

I remember this coming up last year too.
Here is a link to the thread where we got an explanation.

That is different, I understood that last year the files themselves were 24bit 96khz, never mind what the actual frequency analysis showed.
Now the files are 24bit and 44.1khz, clearly not what is being advertised.225xxx - 6/28/00, 10/20/01, 10/22/01, 9/11/06, 9/22/06, 9/23/06, 6/18/07, 6/26/07, 8/15/09, 6/25/10, 6/30/10, 7/4/12, 7/5/12, 7/7/12, 7/10/12, 6/26/14, 6/28/14, 7/3/18, 7/5/180 -
okay.
I haven't purchased any of them yet.
so they just neglected to upconvert them?
Thanks for the heads up.Post edited by lolobugg onlivefootsteps.org/user/?usr=446

I was curious about whether there really is a difference in sound or not so I once the Milan show came out last week, which I wanted, I decided to download it in FLAC-HD. I don't know how large your files are but I've downloaded regular FLAC before and for a 3 hour show it usually comes out to around 1GB, give or take. The Milan show is 3.68GB and I could be wrong but I perceive a clearer sound over the non-HD versions for the shows. Though, my only comparison is with the 2013 tour. I don't have any other 2014 shows.
In my opinion, it's worth the extra few bucks if you have the space for it but I would only download specific shows that I know are really great. For instance, I really like Charlottesville a lot so I may go back and download the HD version of that one.0 -
The file size for Milan seems to be about correct for a 24/96 download.
The Berlin Alac HD download was about 2GB total... :(225xxx - 6/28/00, 10/20/01, 10/22/01, 9/11/06, 9/22/06, 9/23/06, 6/18/07, 6/26/07, 8/15/09, 6/25/10, 6/30/10, 7/4/12, 7/5/12, 7/7/12, 7/10/12, 6/26/14, 6/28/14, 7/3/18, 7/5/180 -
Got a reply from Nugs (regarding Berlin):
"Sorry for the inconvenience. This is fixed now, please try again."
Indeed, they have uploaded new files, at least the file sizes seem to be ok this time... edit: and the files are correctly reported as being 24/96 by iTunes.Post edited by mrk2 on225xxx - 6/28/00, 10/20/01, 10/22/01, 9/11/06, 9/22/06, 9/23/06, 6/18/07, 6/26/07, 8/15/09, 6/25/10, 6/30/10, 7/4/12, 7/5/12, 7/7/12, 7/10/12, 6/26/14, 6/28/14, 7/3/18, 7/5/180 -
I figured there was probably a problem considering the file size difference. I'm glad to hear that they straightened out the issue. I hope you love the show!mrk2 said:Got a reply from Nugs (regarding Berlin):

Any signs that there was also this problem with Milan and Trieste shows? I downloaded them with ALAC-HD format but didnot experience a better hearing quality than ALAC format. What's your part, who you are?
2012: Arras, Berlin 1-2
2013: Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires
2014: Milano, Trieste, Vienna, Berlin
2016: NY MSG 10 -
I can't speak for the ALAC HD files since I only ordered the FLAC HD, but those sound better than the regular download. I prefer FLAC because I can just add it to an external hard drive or flash drive and play it through my stereo receiver.jumbojet said:Any signs that there was also this problem with Milan and Trieste shows? Recently purchased and downloaded the Milwaukee 14 boot in FLAC-HD. When it was first posted, I didn't see that ALAC-HD was even available. Would have preferred this format due to having a mac - would have saved me the trouble of converting everything and losing some of the quality. Did anyone else miss the ALAC-HD option when this show was first posted? Would it be possible for me to get this in ALAC-HD without having to pay again?0

This is what kind of pisses me off. I know it's easy for us to convert, but I feel like if you bought the most expensive version, ie FLAC or ALAC, you should have access to download the lesser quality versions as well and also the other HD codec. I can't think of a valid reason why this shouldn't be the case. I bought a non-PJ album from CDbaby.com and they allow me to download the FLAC, MP3-320, and MP3. In fact, this was months ago and I just logged in and I can still download any of those formats for that album. And don't get me started on not getting a digital copy after plunking down $50 for Vault 4 on vinyl. Total bullshit if you ask me.whoanelly15 said:Recently purchased and downloaded the Milwaukee 14 boot in FLAC-HD. When it was first posted, I didn't see that ALAC-HD was even available. Speaking of Vault 4. Mine shows it shipped 3 weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived. I emailed 10c shipping twice and no response.0

Just wanted to share that I emailed the 10C about this, and they were kind enough to hook me up with the ALACs for nothing. AWESOME! Thanks so much!!0 -

10 Club is just starting to ship them out now!!
There were issues with the packaging provided by the manufacturer & needed to be re-packed.
They were marked "ship" earlier so they could close out the year,
but you should receive an e-mail from UPS when your package is ready for shipping!!
