Jazzfest in New Orleans is announced mid January and im already going to that, so really hoping PJ is in there. They played there in 2010 and I think Ed was supposed a couple years ago but he bailed for some reason. Is it bad that there are no rumors? There were rumors before the tour but idk if festivals are more hush until lineups are annoinced
New Orleans Jazz Fest is probably next week. I'll be there with my kids because I expect The Who will headline Saturday of the first weekend. I'm hoping for at least Eddie to do a show so he can hang with his buds. Didn't he bail on Jazz Fest a few years ago because he got sick?

Oh man yea I was just gonna post The Who will be there, so it's the first weekend? I am only going the 2nd weekend friday-sunday. Isnt the 2nd wkend usually better? I'm not sure why but yea, he was probably sick.
The people behind Bonnaroo are planning a festival in Barrie, Ontario the last weekend of July. The fact the band has missed Toronto the last few years means they may draw quite well there; and it's like a week before Lollapalooza in Chicago. They could bookend a week or so of touring with these two festivals.
Last year Bonnaroo announced Mid-February. This year, I feel like once Coachella announced, every other festival has moved their announemcent up. Bonnaroo will be announced January 13th.

Eddie had nerve damage in his right hand from a back injury. He cancelled a bunch of dates. I was there to see him, we scheduled a bachelor party around it. Oh well, we still had fun. )
They havent played less than 15 shows in any calendar year in over a decade so I guess there is hope. That doesn't include solo stuff either so will try to be optimistic.
I'm not expecting PJ to be on any festival lineup this year... but would be super cool if they were because then I would have a definite vacation plan.

Someone on the Bonaroo under the name "Insider" posts once a year before the lineup gets announced. They posted last night no PJ this year (or My Morning Jacket). They said Billy Joel, Beck, Deadmau5, Florence + The Machine. I'd imagine there's a headliner or two they didn't say.
Hopefully PJ plays at least a couple North American shows this year. Initially I hoped we'd get a 2008-type year with 12 shows around a festival. I'm thinking it might look more like 2012 though.

I think you're right that any PJ tour this year will be like 2012...
a couple of late summer festivals & a few one off shows,
probably in Eastern Canada & South America!!!
With My Morning Jacket releasing a new album this year,
they should be hitting the road on their own tour.
If they do any festivals,
it would be Forecastle in Louisville,
since this is their hometown!!
I'd travel to see a few Beck shows this year too...
saw him twice last year & hope I get the chance for a few more shows in 2015!
I'm starting to get excited to see what the year will bring :-bd

I'm not expecting PJ to be on any festival lineup this year... but would be super cool if they were because then I would have a definite vacation plan.
Just about all legs of Pearl Jam tours include a festival stop, so if they tour at all this year I would bet there will be a festival spot or two. In a slow tour year the low hanging fruit to get them on the road is a festival.
"There will also be different tiers of camping, from single-car campsites to accommodations available for RVs and group camps. “The purpose of having two large concert bowls, inside of just doing festivals at the site, is that it can also host stand-alone concerts for larger acts,” Howes told Pollstar. “The Bonnaroo site is about 800 acres, so it’s comparable.” The music and arts festival will feature some of the leading artists in rock, hip hop, EDM, alternative, rock pop and R&B, also in a vein similar to Bonnaroo."
I mentioned this festival above, but after thinking about it If Pearl Jam tours this year, I'm kind of hoping they don't do this show - it would probably exclude any other shows in Ontario.
I would be willing to bet PJ headlines this. I have no inside knowledge, but it's logical since they didn't play Toronto during the Lightning bolt tour. All Ontario saw was London and Detroit (it's almost Ontario). PJ has a huge fan base up there and it would be an initial boom to the festival.
I would go see PJ in Toronto, but not at this festival. Hopefully there will be 5-10 other non festival shows also. Maybe even Houston!!!!!
the chances of PJ playing "ROO" barrie/"toronto" are zero
maybe in a few years they will play it but i don't think the band wants to be associated with anything new(untested), especially when it comes to a festival. too many risks. too many unknowns and what if's.
IMO
Am I the only one who doesn't get pumped for PJ at festivals? Shorter sets, pretty typical set, worse seats, weather being a factor, bands that probably aren't too interesting, more money for tickets, etc. Just wondering if I'm in the minority or if I'm missing something!
I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell.

yes made in america is a festival but it ain't anything like roo due to the fact that there is major camping involved(roo is a self contained city-not like a festival in a large major city-same a lollapalooza) and that is a big part of my comment of having too many unknowns. just my thought.
